Incident Narrative
An employee and crew were engaged in fire control operations. The employee was operating a chainsaw to cut brush along an old logging road to be used as a fire control line. As the employee cut brush along the edge of a cutbank, they fell and slid approximately 10 feet down the cutbank. As they fell, the employee's right forearm contacted the chainsaw, resulting in a 3-inch in laceration to the back of the forearm on the anterior side of the wrist. The laceration severed one tendon and partially severed another, resulting in hospitalization and surgery.
