Incident Narrative
An employee was assisting a co-worker in fitting a stand pipe into the mousehole of a drilling well. As a joint of the drill pipe was being lifted up, the employee placed his right hand around the drill pipe. The drill pipe moved unexpectedly, causing the employee's right middle finger to be caught between the pipe and the hydraulic power unit. The employee suffered a fingertip amputation above the first knuckle.
