Incident Narrative
An employee was operating a membrane press. While trying to remove a cured membrane from the press, the membrane did not blow off the press as normal. The employee cut the membrane from the core when the core ring began rising up the mold. The employee was removing the excess rubber from the core ring when his left hand became trapped between the bottom of the core and the core ring. The employee suffered burn and crush injuries to the their middle, ring, and little fingers. The following day, the employee suffered medical amputations of their middle and ring fingers to the middle knuckle, and the tip of the pinky finger.
