Incident Narrative
An employee was using a jib crane and lifting strap to unload a 1,744-pound coil from a coiler. The coil slipped as its weight was transferred from the coiler to the lifting strap. A sharp edge on the coil cut through the lifting strap. The coil fell about 18 inches onto the employee's right foot, partially amputating the big toe.
