Incident Narrative

Two employees were using an overhead crane to lift a steel column that was interlocked with a second steel column. The columns were side-by-side standing on the floor. Employee 1 attached the lifting device to the second column. When Employee 2 lifted the second column it swung and caused the first column to fall over and land on top of Employee 2. Employee 2 suffered a broken left femur and lacerations to the right leg.
