An employee was troubleshooting the cause of a glass jam in a forming machine. As the employee was removing a knuckle pin from a glass forming machine so it could be replaced, the adjacent section's hanger opened. The employee's left thumb was pinched between the two sections, causing a partial amputation of the thumb tip.
