An employee was attempting to blow out the core box mold to make sure it was clear from residual sand when the machine cycled unexpectedly, pinching his left index finger between the pin and the cup. His finger was amputated at the first knuckle (mid-nail). The machine was in automatic mode at the time of the incident.
