An employee was installing safety railings on a new parking deck construction when he tripped and fell through an elevator shaft to the ground below (approximately 50 feet). He suffered fractures to both legs, two fractured ribs, and a major spinal compression, requiring hospitalization. Fall protection was not worn at the time of the incident.
