Incident Narrative
On September 13, 2019, at approximately 10:10 p.m., the injured employee offered to help a second employee load three pieces of 20-foot angle onto a trailer using an overhead crane. During the lift, two of the angles became stuck together. The injured employee asked the second employee to further raise the south hoist. As the second employee lifted the angle, the injured employee attempted to release the raised angle from the adjacent angle. When the angles released, the angle being raised released from the chain on the south end. The south end of the raised angle fell to the ground and struck the adjacent angle, which in turn struck the injured employee on his right calf. He was hospitalized with a contusion/compartment syndrome to his right calf.
