Incident Narrative

An employee turned off the power to a chipper in order to change the blade. The employee then went to get tools. When he returned to the chipper, he checked to see if the blade had stopped spinning and his left ring finger became caught between the belt drive and sheave. He sustained a fingertip and fingernail amputation.
