An employee was using an overhead crane with slings to separate granite slabs and inserting spacer blocks between the slabs. As the employee was inserting the spacer, the sling slipped, causing the slab to close against the separator block. The employee's left index finger was crushed between the slab and spacer block, resulting in a fingertip amputation.
