Incident Narrative
On July 18, 2019, two employees were washing down ash in the economizer hopper. The water that was being applied struck a pocket of hot ash, causing it to flash. Ash and steam contacted one employee s thighs and forearms, and entered his work boots, resulting in burns and hospitalization. The second employee sustained a minor burn to his arm requiring first aid.
