An employee was sweeping around a cluster cutter. The machine was dropping some beans on the floor. The employee tried to attach a deflector to the running machine to keep the beans from falling onto the floor. His right middle finger contacted the sickle bar on the machine and a small piece of the side of his middle fingertip was amputated.
