An employee was helping another maintenance employee install a hydraulic cylinder. During installation, the square cylinder base was not fully seated in the slot. The injured employee's finger was pointing to where the cylinder was stuck when the 90-pound cylinder base dropped down and pinched the employee's left index finger, causing a partial fingertip amputation.
