Incident Narrative

An employee was operating a gang saw when material became jammed in the planer section of the saw. He used the clutch mechanism to disengage the saw and then attempted to remove the jammed wood. However, the saw blade was still spinning and caught his coat sleeve. His right hand was then pulled into the spinning saw blade, amputating his thumb. The saw blade was uncovered at the time of the incident.
