Incident Narrative
An employee was servicing a strapping machine that applies multiple polyester straps to compressed bales of cotton. The employee was checking the point were a friction weld fuses the two ends of the strapping together when the employee's right arm/wrist became strapped and trapped to the expanding bale of cotton. The right arm was caught and compressed under considerable pressure, requiring hospitalization.
