Employees were dismantling a scaffold by passing the scaffolding materials in a chain. One employee dropped a 5-foot scaffold pole at a height of approximately 35 to 40 feet. The pole fell straight down, striking an employee on the ground on the brim of his hardhat. The employee fell backwards, hitting his head and suffering head contusions.
