Incident Narrative

An employee in the #2 steel-producing BOF shop was making ladle additions to the first heat steel of the day on furnace #94 when the materials reacted, causing flames and high heat to come up through the chute. The employee received first and second degree burns to the face, right wrist and forearm, and a little bit on his right abdomen.
