NHTSA Campaign 25V101000

STRUCTURE:EMERGENCY:ESCAPE/EGRESS/EXIT

Issued by Nova Bus (US) Inc. · Reported Feb 17, 2025 · 2 vehicles affected

What's wrong

Nova Bus (US) Inc. (Nova Bus) is recalling certain 2006-2007 LFS transit buses. The buses may have been built with an incorrect number of emergency exits. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release."

Consequence

An insufficient number of emergency exits can prevent or delay passengers from exiting during an emergency, increasing their risk of injury.

Remedy

Nova Bus will replace some windows with emergency exit windows, free of charge. This is a Phased campaign. Phase 1 will include 1 bus. Nova Bus will notify owners on or about 12/12/2025. Phase 2 will include 1 bus. Nova Bus will notify owners on or about 2/16/2026. Owner notification letters were mailed December 12, 2025. Owners may contact Nova Bus customer service at 866-870-2046. Nova Bus's number for this recall is CR5691.
