AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER CLOCKSPRING/SPIRAL CASSETTE
Issued by Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) (Stellantis) · Reported Mar 14, 2024 · 10,908 vehicles affected
What's wrong
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain MOPAR steering column control modules, used as replacement parts in certain 2017-2024 Jeep, Chrysler, and Ram vehicles. Please see the attached documents for specific part numbers and vehicle compatibility information. The steering column control module may not be welded properly, which can prevent the driver's air bag from deploying in a crash. As such, these control modules fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
Consequence
An air bag that does not deploy in a crash can increase the risk of injury.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace, or repurchase the steering column control module, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 2, 2024. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is 15B.
