SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:ANTILOCK:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE

Issued by Daimler Trucks North America, LLC · Reported Jun 24, 2022 · 17 vehicles affected

What's wrong

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2022 Freightliner Cascadia vehicles. The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) fault codes will not be stored when the vehicle is keyed off for more than 5 seconds, impairing its diagnostic features and warning light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, "Air Brake Systems."

Consequence

An ABS system that does not store fault codes may fail to warn the driver of an issue, or prevent proper repair. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy

DTNA will repurchase the vehicles. Owner notification letters were mailed June 28, 2024. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL943.
