SUSPENSION:REAR:AXLE:NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY
Issued by Hendrickson USA. L.L.C. · Reported Jun 10, 2016 · 37 vehicles affected
What's wrong
Hendrickson USA. L.L.C. (Hendrickson) is recalling certain Bridge Axles, part number B5R13X-04B, manufactured December 7, 2015, to January 11, 2016. The affected bridge axles have tube sleeves that may crack along the seam welds.
Consequence
If one tube sleeve cracks, vehicle handling may be affected. If both tube sleeves crack, the bridge axle may detach from the vehicle. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Hendrickson notified the one vehicle manufacturer that purchased the affected axles on May 24, 2016. That manufacturer is replacing the axles under recall 16V-421, free of charge. The recall began on May 16, 2016. Owners may contact Hendrickson customer service at 1-630-773-9111. Hendrickson's number for this recall is TB-H801.
