EQUIPMENT

Issued by Thermo King Corp. · Reported Mar 28, 2013 · 8,330 vehicles affected

What's wrong

Thermo King is recalling certain T-Series (Model T570R, T600, T600R, T800, T800R, T1000, T1000R, T1000 Spectrum) and V-Series (Model 200, 300, 520) temperature control units, manufactured from January 2009 through February 2013 and equipped with the electric standby option. Water may intrude into the unit through an improperly sized connector/seal. This may cause corrosion near the electrical terminals, resulting in an electrical short circuit.

Consequence

An electrical short circuit may result in a vehicle fire.

Remedy

Thermo King will notify owners, and dealers will replace the existing connector and O-ring with a properly sized connector, new sealing washer and gasket, free of charge. The recall began on April 25, 2013. Owners may contact Thermo King at 1-952-887-2200.
