ARB CONTRACT AERIAL PATROL PERFORMED PATROL OF C26.2.2 PIPELINE (AND OTHERS) WHICH CONCLUDED ON 04-08-2022 AT 13:20. AERIAL PATROL REPORT INDICATED PIPELINE AND ALL CROSSINGS WERE CLEAR. THIS ACCIDENT COULD HAVE BEGUN AS EARLY AS IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THIS AERIAL PATROL. A LANDOWNER (HUNTER LINDSEY) CALLED ARB CONTROL CENTER ON 04-11-2022 AT 13:55 AND INFORMED COMPANY OPERATOR THAT THERE WAS OIL IN THE CREEK . THE PIPELINE WAS SHUT DOWN AT 13:55 AND MOTOR OPERATED VALVES WERE CLOSED. CREW WAS DISPATCHED TO THE SITE TO INVESTIGATE, MAKE REPAIRS AND REMEDIATE THE AREA. THE RELEASE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50 BARRELS AND OCCURRED ON THE C26.2.2 (PERRIN JCT.-BERRY JCT.) LINE. THE CRUDE OIL HAD RUN DOWN A SHORT SLOPE AND INTO NEARBY CARROLL CREEK WHERE IT POOLED UP AND WAS CONTAINED. LINE WAS UNCOVERED AND A PINHOLE LEAK WAS LOCATED AT THE 6:00 POSITION. REPAIRS TO THE LINE WERE COMPLETED BY INSTALLING A PLIDCO SPLIT SLEEVE CLAMP. LINE WAS RESTARTED ON 04-12-2022 AT 08:02. LONG TERM PLAN INCLUDES A CUT-OUT OF THE AFFECTED PIPE AREA TO REPLACE THE LINE WHERE THE PLIDCO CLAMP IS LOCATED. REMEDIATION AND CLEANUP OF SITE IS ONGOING AS OF 04-22-2022. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SUPPLEMENTAL/FINAL REPORT UPDATE SUBMITTED ON 06-16-2022. PAR A-LINE 9 (BARRELS RECOVERED) WAS UPDATED. PART G1-LINE 7 (WATER DROP-OUT/ACID) WAS VERIFIED. PART G1-LINE 8 WAS UPDATED TO INCLUDE METALLURGICAL ANALYSIS. PART G1-LINE 9 WAS VERIFIED (LOW POINT IN PIPE AND NO DEAD LEG). CUT-OUT AND REPLACEMENT OF THE AFFECTED PIPE AREA WAS COMPLETED ON 04-28-2022. REMEDIATION AND CLEANUP OF SITE WAS COMPLETED ON 05-12-2022. A METALLURGICAL ANALYSIS WAS COMPLETED BY 3D MARINE AND REPORT PROVIDED TO TEXOMA COPC ON 06-15-2022. SUMMARY OF THESE FINDINGS ARE AS FOLLOWS: ""SEM-EDS ANALYSIS OF THE THROUGH WALL HOLE OF THE SAMPLE SUGGESTS THERE IS LIKELY MORE THAN ONE CORROSION MECHANISM TAKING PLACE. THE PITTING FOUND CLOSE TO THE THROUGH WALL HOLE FOUND ON THE ID OF THE PIPE SUGGESTS SOME FORM OF CHEMICAL ATTACK. THE EDS ANALYSIS OF THE CORROSION PRODUCTS FOUND AT THIS LOCATION SHOW SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SULFUR AND CHLORINE, BOTH OF WHICH CAN PARTICIPATE IN CORROSIVE SPECIES WHICH COULD RESULT IN CHEMICAL ATTACK. X-RAY DIFFRACTION OF THE ID SURFACE CORROSION DEPOSITS FOUND AN IRON OXIDE IN THE FORM OF GOETHITE AS WELL AS A SMALL AMOUNT OF SODIUM CHLORIDE AND AKAGENEITE. WHEN DEPOSITS WERE TAKEN FROM THE SAME LOCATION, BUT FROM BELOW THE ID SURFACE, AND ANALYZED VIA XRD, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE CRYSTALLINE MATERIAL IN THIS AREA WAS ALSO AKAGENEITE. AKAGENEITE IS A CHLORIDE CONTAINING IRON (III) OXIDE HYDROXIDE THAT WE NORMALLY SEE WHEN A FERROUS MATERIAL CORRODES IN THE PRESENCE OF WATER CONTAINING SODIUM CHLORIDE. THIS RESULT WOULD LIKELY EXPLAIN THE PITTING SEEN NEAR THE THROUGH WALL HOLE"".
