ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
ON CERTAIN TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH BANDO BELT TENSIONER, CORROSION OR RUST MAY DEVELOP ON THE TENSIONER SPINDLE OR BUSHING CAUSING THE AUTO TENSIONER TO BECOME STIFF OR BIND. THIS CAN CAUSE THE DRIVE BELT TO SUDDENLY COME OFF, OR THE AUTO TENSIONER MOUNTING BOLTS COULD SUDDENLY BREAK.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE AUTO TENSIONER, INSTALL UPGRADED MOUNTING BOLTS, AND REPLACE THE ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 24, 2007. WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY APPROX 60 MPH, MY ARMADA BEING TO SLOW DOWN ON IT'S OWN I WAS ABLE TO STEER THE SUV OVER TO THE SHOULDER JUST IN ENOUGH TIME TO NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE TRUCK COMPLETEYL SHUT OFF,AS IF IT WENT DEAD. WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART IT WOULD NOT TURNOVER. THE SUV WAS TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER SERVICE DEPT AND WAS KEPT THERE FOR A WEK FOR TESTING. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG, JUST OUT OF GAS. I HAD BETWEEN A 1/2-1/4 TANK OF GAS PRIOR TO THIS.I RECEIVE THE SUV BACK ON 11/5/07. ON 11/6/07 WHILE DRIVING WITH A SMALL CHILD INSIDE,THE SAME THING HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS TIME A 18 WHEELER TRUCK ALMOST RAN INTO THE BACK OF MY TRUCK. THIS TIME I COULD STEER OVER TO THE SIDE,THE TRUCK WENT COMPLETELY DEAD.MY LIFE AND NIECES LIFE WAS ALMOST TAKEN. *TR
