Triumph Motorcycles America, LTD (Triumph) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Triumph Thunderbird, Thunderbird ABS, Tiger 800,Tiger 800 ABS, Thruxton, and Bonneville motorcycles manufactured February 6, 2014, to August 7, 2014. The engine control unit may improperly activate the fuel injectors.
Remedy: Triumph will notify owners, and dealers will modify the internal ECU hardware, free of charge. The recall began December 4, 2014. Owners may contact Triumph customer service at 1-678-854-2010. Triumph's number for this recall is SB519.

The contact owns a 2014 Triumph Thunderbird Motorcycle. The contact stated while riding 60 MPH, the motorcycle lost motive power with the throttle control grip being activated. The contact waited for 20 minutes to restart the motorcycle however, the failure recurred. There was no warning light illuminated. The motorcycle was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not determined. The motorcycle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the motorcycle was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was unknown.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TRIUMPH THUNDERBIRD. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 35-55 MPH, THE CONTACT'S MOTORCYCLE MADE AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING NOISE. THE NOISE WAS LOUD AND A DISTRACTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MOTORCYCLES (515 W LAMBERT RD, BREA, CA 92821, (714) 256-6700) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE TEST CAME BACK INCOMPLETE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MOTOR WAS NOT AS NOISY AS OTHER MOTORCYCLES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT "THE MOTOR WAS NOT NOISY ENOUGH". THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,100. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
