FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY
ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, STRESS AROUND THE RIGHT FRONT FUEL TANK MOUNTING POINT CAN CAUSE HAIRLINE FATIGUE CRACKS TO FORM. THIS CAN RESULT IN A FUEL LEAK.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE FUEL TANK AND INSTALL IMPROVED CUSHIONS THAT MOUNT AND SUPPORT THE FUEL TANK. ANY FUEL TANKS THAT ARE FOUND TO HAVE A CRACK WILL BE REPLACED. IF A TANK IS FOUND TO HAVE A CRACK AND A REPLACEMENT TANK IS NOT AVAILABLE, FUEL TANK SEALANT WILL BE APPLIED TO THE TANK AS AN INTERIM REPAIR. WHEN THE REPLACEMENT TANK BECOMES AVAILABLE, THE OWNER WILL BE CONTACTED AND A REPLACEMENT TANK WILL BE INSTALLED. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 3, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SUZUKI AT 1-714-572-1490.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 SUZUKI INTRUDER VL 1500 K4 MOTORCYCLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55-60 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A POPPING NOISE AS IT STALLED. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,500 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 SUZUKI VL1500 INTRUDER MOTORCYCLE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE FUEL SYSTEM AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER SENT THE CONTACT A REPLACEMENT PART THAT WAS GOOD FOR 30 DAYS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART WAS UNSAFE TO USE. SHE HAS NOT HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED ACCORDING TO THE RECALL AND THE MANUFACTURER DOES NOT KNOW WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. THE MILEAGES AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN.

MY LOCAL SUZUKI DEALER HAS HAD MY BIKE FOR OVER SIXTY DAYS AND HAS NOT COMPLETED THE RECALL. MY MOTORCYCLE REQUIRED A NEW FUEL TANK THAT SUZUKI DOES NOT HAVE. SUZUKI'S RECALL NOTICE SAID TO COMPLAIN TO YOU IN THIS EVENT. *NM

SUZUKI HAS A RECALL ON THE INTRUDER 1500 GAS TANKS. THEY HAVE MY BIKE NOW BECAUSE THE TANK LEAKS. THEY WON'T GIVE IT BACK AND THERE ISN'T A TIMELINE WHEN THEY WILL HAVE REPLACEMENT TANKS. *NM

DT: THE CONTACT STATES WHEN THE HAND ACCELERATOR WAS DISENGAGED THE HANDLE BAR MOVED FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS SEEN BY THE DEALER THREE TIMES. THE FRONT TIRE WERE BALANCED AGAIN, AND THE TORQUE ON THE STEERING WAS READJUSTED. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED, AND NO FURTHER CORRECTIONS HAVE BEEN MADE. *AK ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT FEELS THE RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURE IS INCORRECT IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THE OWNER'S MANUAL RECOMMENDS A TIRE PRESSURE OF 29 PSI FOR THE FRONT AND 36 PSI FOR THE REAR. THE MANUFACTURER OF THE TIRE RECOMMENDS 37 PSI FOR THE FRONT AND 47 FOR THE REAR.*AK UPDATED 1/4/2006 - *NM
