EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS
Defect Description
Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain model year 2004-2006 Verona vehicles manufactured June 2003 to October 2005. In the affected vehicles, there may be heat generated within the DRL module located in the instrument panel, which could melt the DRL module.
Consequence
If the DRL module melts due to the heat generation, it could cause a vehicle fire.
Remedy
Suzuki will notify owners, and dealers will replace the DRL module in the instrument panel, free of charge. The recall began on November 5, 2014. Owners can contact Suzuki customer service at 1-800-934-0934. Suzuki's number for this recall is XC.

Consequence
ENGINE STALLING COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) ON AFFECTED VEHICLES. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 14, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT SUZUKI AT 1-800-934-0934.

The contact's fiancé owns a 2004 Suzuki Verona. The contact stated that on multiple occasions after starting the vehicle, the engine was lagging and then revved inadvertently. The contact also stated that while driving at various speeds and coming to a stop at a red light or stop sign, the vehicle

Additionally, the contact stated that the driver's seat belt failed to latch, and the front passenger’s side seat belt locked without movement. The check engine, air bag, seat belt, and oil warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the timing chain and lifters needed to be replaced. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the additional failures. The vehicle was then taken to another independent mechanic, where a diagnostic tool retrieved various failure codes for unknown sensors and failure with the engine. The contact made a local dealer aware of the failures and the dealer confirmed there was no related recalls for the VIN. The vehicle was not repaired. I PURCHASED MY 2004 SUZUKI VERONA ON JAN. 30, 2007. FROM THE SECOND DAY I OWN IT, IT HAS MADE NOISE LIKE IT WAS A DIESEL ENGINE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE TICKING SOUND COMING FROM THE TOP END OF THE MOTOR WAS NORMAL, THAT IT WAS THE SELF ADJUSTING CAM GEARS. I COULD HEAR A ROD KNOCKING IN THE LOWER END O

THEY THEN WERE SUPPOSEDLY TO HAVE REPLACED THE SHORT BLOCK ( THE LOWER END OF THE MOTOR) BUT THE ROD CONTINUES TO KNOCK TO THIS DAY. THE CAR HAS DIED AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 35 MPH UP TO 70 MPH. IT DIED ONE DAY AS I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AND I WAS BARELY ABLE TO AVOID BEING BROAD SIDED BY AN ON-COMING VEHICLE WHERE MY MOTHER COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED OR KILLED.
