Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain 2010-2013 Suzuki Kizashi vehicles. Dust can enter the vent line that provides fresh air to the carbon canister, restricting its air flow and possibly creating excessive negative pressure in the fuel tank which may result in the fuel tank cracking.
Remedy: Suzuki has sent owners an initial notification to inform them of the recall. When parts are available, a second notice will be mailed and dealers will install a cover over the opening near the suction pipe inlet, and relocate the suction filter. The fuel cap and fuel tank will also be replaced with improved parts. The recall began August 12, 2019. Owners may contact Suzuki customer service at 1-800-934-0934.

(Suzuki) is recalling certain model year 2010-2013 SX4 vehicles manufactured July 16, 2009, to November 1, 2012, and 2010-2013 Kizashi vehicles manufactured October 13, 2009, to October 31, 2012. The shift selector can be moved out of the "Park" position without depressing the brake pedal.
Remedy: Suzuki will notify owners, and dealers will replace the shift selector assembly and inspect, and if necessary, replace the shift knob, free of charge. The recall began January 16, 2015. Owners may contact Suzuki customer service at 1-714-996-7040. Suzuki's number for this recall is VL.

Suzuki Motor Of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain model year 2010-2013 Kizashi vehicles manufactured October 2009 through July 2012. In the affected vehicles, spiders may weave a web in the evaporative canister vent hose, blocking it and causing the fuel tank to have an excessive amount of negative pressure.
Remedy: Suzuki is in the process of notifying owners, and dealers will replace the evaporative canister vent line on the affected vehicles with a vent line that has a filter on the end. If the canister vent line is found to be obstructed by a spider web, the fuel tank will also be replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 12, 2014. THE HINGED DOOR OF THE CENTER LOWER BOX LOCATED IN THE FRONT DASHBOARD AREA FAILS TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 201, "OCCUPANT PROTECTION IN INTERIOR IMPACT."

I have received multiple recall notifications for problems with air bag on the passenger side, and a fuel tank that Suzuki says may crack. It would be great to have these things taken care of, but the repair providers that Suzuki has authorized are both 3 HOURS away! That means 6 hours total driving time, which is quite unreasonable. Does the NHTSA have any authority to either 1) get Suzuki to authorize a shop a reasonable distance from me, or, 2) have Suzuki reimburse me for recall repairs done at a local facility? I have called Suzuki myself, but they are extremely unhelpful. They made their money when they sold the car, and seem to be extremely unwilling to promote any lasting good will.

POWER TRAIN Oct 19, 2022
The vehicle goes in the limp mode while accelerating uphill. At one occasion it went into the limp mode and stalled, very unsafe for highway. Turing it off and restarting needed. The transmission has issues that hasn't been addressed by the manufacturer.

The contact owns a 2010 Suzuki Kizashi. The contact had received a recall letter regarding the front passenger’s air bag seat sensor. The contact stated that she was not aware of warning lights only a short beeping sound when any weight was placed on the seat. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and the seat cushion sensor was replaced. The contact later received another recall letter stating that the seat cushion sensor had to be replaced with a newer sensor. The vehicle was not repaired because the dealer did not have the part. The dealer informed the contact that the manufacturer had not responded to a request for a parts update. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure but could not provide a timeline on parts availability. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

THE CAR HAS LOW MILEAGE. FIRST THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WENT OUT. WE CALLED SUZUKI TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL, THEY SAID NO. WE HAD TO SEARCH FOR A PART AND FINALLY HAD IT REPLACED AT GREAT COST. NOW A FEW MONTHS LATTER THIS HAPPENS. THE PASSANGER AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. CALLED TOYOTA DEALER. HE SAID IT IS PROBABLY JUST A BAD MSG, HAPPENS IN HAWAII ALL THE TIME, SO WE CONTINUED DRIVING IT. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON JAN 6, ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ISLAND OF HAWAII, AS WE TURNED LEFT ONTO THE MAIN HIGHWAY HEAR OCEANVIEW, ALL THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON. THE CAR LOST POWER STEERING BUT WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT TO A SAFE PLACE. WE COULD NOT SHUT THE ENGINE OFF UNTIL ABOUT 30 MINUTES LATER. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER. WHILE THEY WERE TESTING THE CAR, IT STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF TESTING AND THEY COULDN'T RESTART IT. IT HAD 12 - 15 CODES THAT THEY HAD TO CLEAR. THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME BACK AND COULD NOT BE CLEARED. CONSTANT SMELL OF GAS AND THEN COMPUTER ISSUED CODE P0456. DEALER FOUND A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHERE THE FUEL FILL PIPE AND ATTACHED VENT PIPE WAS RUSTING BADLY. SMALL RUST HOLES WERE IN THE VENT PIPE. THIS WAS CAUSING THE P0456 CODE AND ALSO LEAKING OF FUMES AND GAS. THIS COULD CAUSE A POSSIBLE FIRE SITUATION WITH THE VEHICLE.

THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT DID ILLUMINATE IN THE GAUGE CLUSTER. I PULLED OVER, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. I TURNED IT BACK ON AND POWER STEERING WAS RESTORED. ABOUT 1 YEAR LATER WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT IN THE CITY DURING DRY WEATHER AT NIGHT, AT ABOUT 30MPH THE CAR AGAIN SUDDENLY LOST POWER STEERING, THE POWER STEERING FAILURE WARNING LIGHT DID ILLUMINATE. I AGAIN PULLED OVER, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. I TURNED IT ON AGAIN AND POWER STEERING WAS RESTORED. I'VE HAD NO OTHER ISSUES WITH THE STEERING. I DID CHECK AN ONLINE FORUM FOR KIZASHI 'S WITH POWER STEERING FAILURE AND FOUND ANOTHER PERSON WHO HAD A SIMILAR SUDDEN POWER STEERING FAILURE. UNKNOWN, NO ANSWERS OR EXPLANATIONS FOR THE SUDDEN POWER STEERING FAILURE HAVE BEEN FOUND TO MY KNOWLEDGE. I HAVE NO DOCUMENTATION REGARDING THIS COMPLAINT.

HEADLIGHT BULBS BURN OUT MUCH TOO OFTEN. SINCE 2010, I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR INTO THE DEALER ELEVEN TIMES TO REPLACE ONE OR SEVERAL BURNED OUT LIGHT BULBS. ON ONE OCCASION ALL FOUR PRIMARY BULBS BURNED OUT AT ONE TIME. I HAVE RECEIPTS OF EVERY VISIT. DURING THE LAST CHANGE ON 12/2/15 THE DEALER INFORMS ME THAT SUZUKI WOULD NO LONGER COVER THE BULB REPLACEMENT AND LABOR . THE BUMPER NEEDS TO BE REMOVED TO REPLACE BULBS, SO THIS IS NOT A CHEAP EXERCISE, NOT TO MENTION THE SAFETY PROBLEMS OF BULBS BURNING OUT SO OFTEN.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 SUZUKI KIZASHI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON THREE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE RPMS INCREASED TO 1,800 WHILE THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND A FAILURE CODE. THE DEALER ALSO TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE.
