Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain 2003-2006 Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo, 2004-2010 Cayenne, 2006 Cayenne Turbo S, 2010-2016 Panamera S, Panamera 4 S, Panamera Turbo, 2011-2016 Panamera, Panamera 4, 2012-2013 Panamera Turbo S, 2013-2016 Panamera 4 GTS, 2014-2016 Panamera 4 S Executive, Panamera Turbo Executive, Panamera Turbo S G1 II, Panamera Turbo S Executive, 2013 Panamera 4 Platinum Edition, Panamera Platinum Edition, 2016 Panamera 4 Edition, Panamera Edition, Panamera Turbo S Executive Luxury Sports vehicles. The bushing that attaches the gear selector lever to the gearbox may degrade over time, causing the bushing to detach. This condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to Park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in Park, with no warning message or audible chime.
Remedy: Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will replace the shifter cable bushing, free of charge. Owners are instructed to use the parking brake until their vehicle is repaired. The recall began August 9, 2019. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is AKB1.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP
Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain 2003-2006 Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo vehicles, 2004-2006 Cayenne vehicles, and 2006 Cayenne S "Titanium" Edition vehicles. These gasoline-powered vehicles have a fuel pump flange that may crack, allowing fuel to leak.
Remedy: Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel filter flanges with new filter flanges that have a protective film, free of charge. The recall began July 6, 2018. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is AH10.

SEAT BELTS
CERTAIN PASSENGER CARS FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION." ALL THREE REAR SEAT POSITIONS AND THE FRONT PASSENGER POSITION ARE EQUIPPED WITH SEAT BELT RETRACTORS THAT HAVE A LOCKING FEATURE WHICH CONVERTS THE RETRACTOR FROM AN EMERGENCY LOCKING RETRACTOR (ELR) MODE TO AN AUTOMATIC LOCKING RETRACTOR (ALR) MODE FOR THE PURPOSES OF CHILD RESTRAINT INSTALLATION. THE BELT MAY DEACTIVATE THE ALR MODE WITH CERTAIN CHILD RESTRAINTS.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL PERMANENTLY INSTALL A CLIP IN EITHER OF THE AFFECTED REAR OUTBOARD SEAT BELTS AND PROVIDE AN OWNER'S MANUAL INSERT. THE CLIPS WILL PREVENT UNWARRANTED CONVERSION FROM ALR TO ELR MODE WITH CHILD SEAT INSTALLATION. THE RECALL BEGAN MAY 17, 2005. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT PORSCHE AT 1-800-545-8039.

DRIVING FROM NY CITY ON NOVEMBER 20, 2018 ALL OF A SUDDEN START HEARING LOUD CLUNKING/THUMPING NOISE FROM THE UNDER OF THE CAR. IT WAS SCARY. DROVE HOME VERY SLOWLY WITH FLASHERS ON. TOOK THE CAR TO THE PORSCHE DEALER IN ROCHESTER AND THEY DIAGNOSE AND QUOTE ME CLOSE TO $2000 TO REPLACE THE CARDAN DRIVE SHAFT. I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY AND CAR IS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AT HOME

I PARKED THE CAR IN THE GARAGE AFTER RUNNING ERRANDS. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE GARAGE THE NEXT MORNING THERE WAS A LARGE PUDDLE OF FLUID SURROUNDING THE CAR BELOW. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STATED THAT I NEEDED TO CHECK COOLANT LEVEL. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE PORSCHE OF PLANO AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE WRITER THAT THE COOLANT PIPES ARE A COMMONLY KNOWN, WELL DOCUMENTED POINT OF FAILURE. HE SUGGESTED I RUN A SEARCH ON GOOGLE. I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS AND JUST HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS THAT PORSCHE USED PLASTIC MATERIALS IN THE DESIGN OF THE COOLANT PIPES WHICH ARE LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. THE PLASTIC BECOMES BRITTLE OVER TIME DUE TO THE HEAT FROM THE ENGINE. WHEN IT BECOMES BRITTLE ENOUGH IT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO LOOSE ALL FLUID IMMEDIATELY. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN CARS WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND OTHERS THAT ARE PARKED. PORSCHE DOES NOT SUPPLY THE SAME PARTS TO REPAIR A FAILURE. PORSCHE INSTEAD SELLS A KIT MADE OF ALUMINUM PIPING THAT IS DESIGNED NOT TO WITHSTAND THE HEAT OF THE ENGINE THE WAY IT SHOULD HAVE ORIGINALLY BEEN MANUFACTURED. THE COST FOR THE KIT AND LABOR RANGES BETWEEN $2,000 - $3,000. THE ISSUE IS NOW PART OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT DUE TO THE NUMBER OF OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. *TR

TRANSMISSION WILL SLIP DURING INITIAL ACCELERATION, ESPECIALLY WHEN VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN RECENTLY, AND VEHICLE WILL INTERMITTENTLY HAVE DELAYS IN DOWNSHIFTING OR ACCELERATION RESULTING IN SAFETY CONCERNS WHEN PROMPT ACCELERATION IS NEEDED (FOR EXAMPLE, AVOID TRAFFIC OR VEHICLE RUNNING A TRAFFIC LIGHT). ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE Mar 29, 2005
I WAS DRIVING MY NEW 2005 PORSCHE CAYENNE TURBO PURCHASED AT THE END OF DECEMBER, 2004 ON THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 50 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR SHIFTED TO A LOWER GEAR AND JERKED FORWARD WITH SUCH INTENSITY, IT WAS AS IF SOMEONE HAD PUT ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE "EMISSION CONTROL, CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS OCCURRED. THE INCIDENT CAUSED WHIPLASH BECAUSE THE CAR JOLTED SO SUDDENLY. IF THERE HAD BEEN ANYONE DRIVING CLOSELY BEHIND ME, THEY WOULD HAVE CRASHED INTO ME. THE CAR WAS TOWED IN FOR SERVICE TO A PORSCHE SERVICE CENTER AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AT DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM, THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE DME (THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT COMPUTER). THE SERVICE CENTER STATED THIS WAS AN AUTOMATIC FUNCTION OF THE VEHICLE, THAT IT AUTOMATICALLY GOES INTO 3RD GEAR IF THE ONBOARD COMPUTER SENSES A PROBLEM. IF I HAD BEEN GOING 70 MPH ON A NORMAL HIGHWAY, THE CONSEQUENCES WOULD HAVE BEEN SEVERE.
