Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Porsche 911, Boxster, and Cayman vehicles manufactured May 7, 2014, to September 23, 2014. The front hood upper lock components were not manufactured to specification and may fail to securely latch the vehicle's hood during operation.
Remedy: Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will replace the lock on the front hood, free of charge. The recall began December 12, 2014. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is AE04.

There is an active spoiler that has a brake light built into it. There is a design issue with the wiring for the light in the spoiler. The brake light harness is worn out by the movement of the spoiler causing failure of the brake light. This meams there is no 3rd brake light when the spoiler is automatically activated.
This car has popular aftermarket Spiegler brake lines on it, braided stainless lines, these are the brakes and lines: https://www.essexparts.com/ap-racing-by-essex-road-brake-kit-front-9562380mm-porsche-911 Yesterday, on startup with the brake pedal depressed, the front right line burst. See uploaded pictures. The lines have been on the car since April 2021, and the car is regularly service and gets annual or more frequent brake flushes. Inspection at the shop this morning revealed multiple areas of discoloration underneath the plastic sheath that is over the braided line. One of the other lines on the front left was bulging in the area of the discoloration, suggesting that one was close to failure as well. There are no signs of abrasion on the lines themselves, it appears the stainless braided line that encases the teflon inner line is corroding or degrading for some reason. I have contact Essex, the distributor of this kit. The car is at Cantrell Motorsports in Bellevue, Washington and has not been disassembled yet, I would authorize the NHTSA to inspect and take custody of the brake lines if you wish.
Spoiler lift spring brackets on both sides are broken allowing the springs to get in the way of the normal performance of the spoiler. This could impede the deployment of the spoiler or the successful retraction of the spoiler, creating a reduction in downforce (grip) or creating a safety hazard of a non-fully retracted spoiler. This was identified by a third-party repair shop during maintenance work. In doing further research online I have determined that this is an extremely common issue on this model generation (991.1) that Porsche will not address.

A FORENSIC INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS THE ELECTRICAL BOARD LOCATED ON THE INSIDE OF THE CABIN NEAR THE RIGHT REAR TIRE. ON THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT, AFTER DRIVING THE CAR LESS THAN 15 MILES FROM MY HOME TO A NEARBY PROPERTY I NOTICED THE CAR WAS SMOKING AS I PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY. I PARKED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A SMALL FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I COULDN'T GET TO THE CAR IN TIME WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED, THE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. I'M NOW FACED WITH A TOTAL LOSS FOR THE VEHICLE AND NOT TO MENTION RELUCTANCE TO EVER PURCHASE ANOTHER PORSCHE IN MY LIFE. I'VE DREAMT ABOUT OWNING THIS PORSCHE CARRERA (GTS) SINCE I WAS A CHILD AND THIS EXPERIENCE HAS TOTALLY ALTERED MY PERCEPTION. IF MY FAMILY HAD BEEN IN THE CAR WITH ME, THIS COULD HAVE TURNED OUT DISASTROUS AND FOR THAT MY CONFIDENCE HAS BEEN SHATTERED WITH PORSCHE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA. SEVERAL TIMES, WHILE DRIVING, THE CHECK OIL LEVEL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE CONTACT FILLED THE VEHICLE WITH FUEL, HE ALSO HAD TO ADD OIL TO THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD TO ADD OIL APPROXIMATELY EVERY 500-900 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE COLLECTION (200 BIRD RD, CORAL GABLES, FL 33146 (305) 444-5555) WHERE A FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THIS WAS A NORMAL ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000. *LN CONSUMER DATED THIS IS A MALFUNCTION AS WELL AS A SAFETY ISSUE THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION EACH 500-700 MILES 400 HAVE TO ADD OIL STOP THE CAR OR THE ENGINE CAN FREEZE UP ON YOU. I FIND MYSELF HAVING TO HAVING TO ADD OIL EVERY TWO FILL UPS. FROM 500 HUNDRED TO 1000 MILES.THIS RATE OF OIL CONSUMPTION VERY EXCESSIVE AND IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN ADVISED AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE I WOULD HAVE NOT BOUGHT THE CAR. THE DEALER AND PORSCHE USA SAYS THIS IS NORMAL. BUT I HAVE ANOTHER PORSCHE THAT DOESN'T USE OIL. THEY HAVE TO ADD OIL THREE TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR.UNACCEPTABLE!.
CAR HEATING SYSTEM CUT OUT. I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES AND THE HEATER SYSTEM DIED. NOT HAVING HEAT, THE WINDSHIELD FOGGED UP IMMEDIATELY AND COLD RAIN STARTED FREEZING ON THE WINDSHIELD REQUIRING ME CONTINUOUSLY CLEAR IT WITH WASHER FLUID UNTIL THE CAR RAN OUT OF WASHER FLUID AND I HAD TO STOP. AFTER DOING SOME INTERNET RESEARCH IT SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A PROBLEM AFFECTING MANY PORSCHES OF THIS TYPE. IT SEEMS LIKE PORSCHE IS USING A FAILURE PRONE VALVE UNIT IN 6-8 PLACES IN THE CAR (DEPENDING ON MODEL TYPE). THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WELL KNOWN AND MY DEALER KNEW ALREADY THAT ITS A VALVE PROBLEM WHEN I MENTIONED IT AND CONCEDED THAT IT IS AN ISSUE. NEVERTHELESS, IT LOOKS LIKE PORSCHE DECIDED NOT TO RECALL THE VALVES, BUT SIMPLY REPLACE THEM WHEN THEY FAIL. THIS MIGHT BE OK FOR DRIVERS IN WARM WEATHER, BUT IN COLD WEATHER THIS CAN MEAN AN IMMEDIATE STOP OR RISKING AN ACCIDENT DUE TO LOW VISIBILITY.
