(Dorman) is recalling certain replacement intermediate steering shafts sold under the Dorman, OE Solutions, and Solutions brand names, part numbers 425-167, 2425167, and 7-3074, for installation on 2004-2012 Chevrolet Malibu, 2005-2010 Pontiac G6, and 2007-2009 Saturn Aura vehicles. The affected steering shafts may have a yoke that inadequately supports the u-joint bearing resulting in a premature failure.
Remedy: Dorman will notify owners, and dealers will refund the purchase price or replace the steering shafts, free of charge. The recall began in September 2014. Owners may contact Dorman customer service at 1-800-523-2492.

STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2004-2006 and 2008-2009 Chevrolet Malibu, 2004-2006 Malibu Maxx, 2009-2010 HHR (non-turbo), 2010 Cobalt, 2008-2009 Saturn Aura and 2004-2007 Ion, and 2005-2009 Pontiac G6. In the affected vehicles, there may be a sudden loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist that could occur at any time while driving.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will perform one of four bulletins. Parts are not currently available. GM expects to send an interim notification around May 28, 2014. When parts are available, owners will be mailed a second letter to come in to have the applicable bulletin applied. Bulletin 14115 covers model year 2004-2007 Saturn Ion, 2009-2010 Chevrolet HHR and 2010 Chevrolet Cobalts. Dealers will replace the EPS motor. Bulletin 14116 covers model year 2004-2006 Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, 2005-2006 Pontiac G6 and 2008-2009 Chevrolet Malibu, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura built from March 1, 2008, through June 27, 2008. Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will install a retainer over the cable end or replace the shift cable as necessary. This service will be performed free of charge. The power steering keeps going out causing turning to become incredibly hard. This started in Dec of 2025. I replaced the column in 2022 because of the same issues and it is happening again now. I see some 2009 VINS have been recalled but my vin isn’t apart of that.

The third time dealer said it was a bad motor mount. After extensive research online, found out several years of G6 cars have the high pressure power steering hose about 1 inch from the exhaust pipe. This is causing the hose to melt due to the heat. GMC started making heat protective wrap around these hoses which still does not solve the problem-still burns thru. With a simple online search 2006-2010 G6 with the v-6 engines are still having this problem, costing owners money/time and safety issues. When I saw the white smoke, I lost my power stearing, causing panic and difficult steering. GM should have a recall, find a permanent solution where owners/family can feel safer. Most of these cars have low miles considering the age- Are owners afraid to drive the car due to the power steering hoses and exhaust being too close. Causing more concern for safety, and the costs for repairs and tow trucks.

The drivetrain: automatic transmission parking lock cable (or shift cable) malfunctioned. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I am able to put the car in 'park' and remove the key. However, when I attempt to start the vehicle, it won't start because the battery gets drained. I have to constantly get a jump off. My safety and the safety of others are at risk because I never know how much the battery has been drained, and the vehicle shuts off in trafffic. The problem has been confirmed by an independent service center. The vehicle has only been inspected by an independent service center. There have been no warning signs of the problem before shutting off or not starting. The vehicle was purchased in 2019, and the first occurrence was the same year. We knew something was draining the battery. We just did not know what. So we would not let the vehicle sit for more than a day without starting it, and we would always be prepared to charge the battery.
The power steering warning flashed on the radio and immediately the car was not controllable the car was stopped and restared and clicks now when turning the wheel but hasnt been driven becauseofthe steering and there are multiple recalls for this but this specific vin number is not included but has the eps that is referred to because it has a 2.4 l engine which only comes with eps

The vehicle was taken to the residence; however, the failure recurred while driving at various speeds. I was driving down the road around 25 miles per hour and I heard a beep like a chime and then power steering went out making it very hard to control the vehicle. Power steering was flashing on the dashboard. Turn vehicle off then back on it was fine and then a mile down the road done it again

The Body Control Module (BCM) Part number 20943341 malfunctioned. Tried to replace the part at the dealership and was told that the part is no longer being manufactured. Eventually found a new part on eBay and was told by the dealership that they could not re-program the BCM computer. The car is undriveable.
Strong fuel smell from rear of Pontiac G6 near fuel tank. This is a common problem due to a cracked elbow on top of the fuel pump. This issue is happening among all G6 models from 05 to 09 . This issue should be recalled as it is dangerous to the drivers , passengers or anyone that comes within 3 ft of Pontiacs that have this issue. Fuel odor can be smelt from further than 3ft that can damage to lungs, throat and multiple other health hazards. The fumes can reach even further witch is easily ignited if someone were to walk by with a cigarette This issue is common in 75% of Pontiac G6's on the road This defective part should be placed on recall and should definitely be looked into before someone loses their lives over an easily preventable occurrence from happening. The contact owns a 2009 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that since owning the vehicle, the wheel studs on all four wheels had frequently fractured while driving at various speeds. The contact stated initially four studs fractured on the front passenger’s side wheel. On two separate instances, several studs had detached from the front driver’s side, and on the driver’s and passenger’s rear wheels. The contact had towed the vehicle to the dealer where the lug nuts were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. I have had this car since 2018 and the exterior lighting has been giving me trouble ever since I first got the car. The biggest problem is my headlights. They were first going out every 2-3 months so I kept replacing the bulb. Now it is much worst. I have had various mechanics, family, and friends maintenance the car over the past 5 years. We have tried replacing bulbs and wires but nothing works. The lights go out very quickly. Sometimes both lights will work or only one light will work. I try to smack the headlights for it to come on and sometimes that works. They go in and out when I am driving. Right now, neither of the lights are working and it is becoming dangerous because I have to drive at night and people on the road can have a hard time seeing me because my car is black. I have a traffic citation for this back in December 2018.

My Pontiac G6 has only 80,000 miles on it. Just starting the car to pull out if the garage; power steering goes out; can't steer. So, I shut car off; wait a few minutes restart car goes away. within one block or less from home dash light say power steering problems can't steer. So have to do the same as before shut car off restart car goes away then goes out again in a few seconds. Had the car sense it was new. Look up recall #14V153000 Bulletin 14116 an called Dealership they said it is not covered. So how can I get a dealership to except what I found and fix the problem to make my Pontiac G6 safe to drive without having to pay for what's not my problem?

Sudden loss of power steering while driving. There was no warning on both occasions. One time I could not turn the vehicle and ended up leaving the road. Traffic behind me, as well, as cross traffic from the light change, piled up until I was able to run back over the curb and get back on the road. The car is currently at a repair shop for the 2nd time. The power steering recall affected the same year and model of my vehicle, but not the same manufacture date. My car was manufactured in July 2008. The power steering recall for my car ended in late June 2008.

The contact was informed that the power steering motor controller unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained with the independent mechanic awaiting the repair. Power steering failed while driving. Turning was very difficult on snowy streets without power steering. After shutting off the car and restarting, power steering came back on briefly, then failed again. The car did display a warning that the power steering failed while it was happening, but nothing prior to the event. The car model uses electric power assist system. Power steering goes off while driving. Previous recall for this reason while checking my Vin it states that there are no unrepaired recalls however either mine was never actually fixed or it has not been repaired properly.
Well, we purchased a 2009 Pontiac G6 in November of 2021. We have been having problems with our light staying on, we were pull over a couple nights ago due to our lights not working. Also, our G6 pulls to the right and tweeters are the only speakers that work. Sometimes the driver door speaker will come on but that's in a blue moon. My step dad looked at my lights and noticed our wires were burnt and so was the connection piece. My fiancé informed me the other day that when he was fueling up, that he had to turn the car off because he heard a weird noise coming from the inside of the gas tank. Also, when we purchased the vehicle the battery was put in wrong and rubbing up against our hood [XXX] near caught our car on fire. Sometimes the car with slowing idle and won't go until I have to put my foot all the way down to the floor. Also, I had all 4 brand new tires put on it and the tire light is still on. Coat me $576.67 for tires because I got the weather, puncture proof and warranty! We have told South Shields Auto Credit in OKC, Ok I believe his name is [XXX] about the lights and he told his actual words "THAT SOUNDS LIKE WIRING PROBLEM AND WE DON'T DEAL WITH WIRING PROBLEMS"!! We took it in to get the light fixed and the lights were working for about 2 days and they quit working again.
