ABOUT A WEEK AFTER THE ORIGNAL INCIDENT, THE SUPPORT BRACKET WHICH IS WELDED TO THE FIREWALL TO SUPPORT THE PEDAL AND ALSO ACT AS A PRESSURE POINT FOR THE TROTTLE LINKAGE BROKE. THE PIECE I AM REFERING TO CONTAINS A SPRING UNIT FOR THE PEDAL. IT SEEMS THAT THE PRESSURE OF THE PEDAL WORE THE BRACKET, MADE OF APPARENTLY ALUMINUM, INTO AT THE FOLDS WHICH PROVIDE THE PIECE A PLACE TO BE SPOT WELDED TO THE FIREWALL.*AK
