Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 Eclipse vehicles manufactured April 20, 2005, to February 13, 2009, and 2007-2009 Eclipse Spyder vehicles manufactured December 23, 2005, to February 13, 2009. Due to corrosion inside the antil-lock brake system

Consequence
A sudden reduction of braking performance may increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy

ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, ONE OF FOUR SEALS INSIDE THE MASTER CYLINDER MAY HAVE BEEN INSTALLED IMPROPERLY. AS A RESULT, THE MASTER CYLINDER MAY UNEXPECTEDLY BY-PASS HYDRAULIC BRAKING FORCE PRESSURE AND ALLOW A LONGER THAN NORMAL PEDAL STROKE.
Consequence
SHOULD THIS CONDITION OCCUR, THE BRAKING DISTANCE REQUIRED TO STOP THE VEHICLE MAY INCREASE AND COULD LEAD TO A VEHICLE CRASH.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JULY THAT THE BRAKES COULD FAIL IF THE ABS IS ACTIVATED. MITSUBISHI REFERRED ME TO A DEALER (THE ONLY DEALER IN NEVADA). THE DEALER SAID THEY CAN'T MAKE ANY REPAIRS, BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX THE CAR. SO, I CALLED MITSUBISHI, AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO REP

UNBELIEVABLE! TWO MONTHS LATER, THE BRAKES FAILED AFTER ABS SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATED IN THE RAIN AND I SLID THROUGH AN INTERSECTION ALMOST CAUSING A MAJOR ACCIDENT ON A CITY STREET AT 45MPH AFTER TRYING TO STOP USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THEY SAID THEY AREN'T AUTHORIZED TO MAKE ANY DECISIONS, AND THAT ONLY THE DEALERSHIP CAN OPT TO TOW/REPAIR THE CAR OR SUPPLY A LOANER. SO NOW MY CAR SITS IN THE PARKING LOT, BROKEN DOWN WITH NO BRAKES, WITH A RECALL NOTICE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT.
