Defect Description

Consequence
An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
Remedy
MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag module, free of charge. Mercedes issued an interim notification to owners on February 23, 2018. FUEL PUMP HOUSING CRACKED AND WAS LEAKING FUEL. THIS IS A PLASTIC PART. THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED UNDER THE REAR SEAT, SO THERE WAS FUEL INSIDE THE CAR. I NOTICED A STRONG GAS ODOR AND UPON INSPECTION, FOUND THE FAILED PUMP WITH GAS LEAKING FROM IT.
