SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:DISC:PADS
Bosch Brake Components LLC (Bosch) is recalling certain aftermarket replacement front brake pads, models Bosch QuietCast BC598 and BP765, Bosch Blue BE598 and BE598H, Prostop PD598 and PD765M, Duralast Gold DG598, Duralast MKD598, Stop Master ST598, UltraStop ULT598, UltraLife MX598 and MX765, BrakeBest MKD765, and Prostop Platinum PGD598. These brake pads, manufactured October 1, 2014, to October 31, 2015 are intended for use on 2001-2007 Ford Taurus, 2001-2005 Mercury Sable, 1995-1999 Ford Taurus SHO, 1995-2002 Lincoln Continental, and 1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII vehicles. The brake pad shim may shift out of position causing the shim to contact the brake disc resulting in damage to the disc.
Remedy: Bosch will instruct the owners how to have the affected brake pads replaced, free of charge. The recall began on May 26, 2016. Owners may contact Bosch customer service at 1-888-715-3616.

VERY POOR VISIBILITY AT NIGHT DUE TO HEADLIGHTS YELLOWING...HAVE REPLACED ONCE BEFORE AND THEY STILL DUE AGAIN OVER TIME...VERY DANGEROUS. *JB

FUEL TANK HOSE IS DESIGNED TO RUN AGAINST THE DRIVE SHAFT TO AVOID BEING PINCHED BY SUSPENSION. BUT OVER TIME THE CONSTANT RUNNING OF THE DRIVE SHAFT AGAINST THE HOSE WILL DETERIORATE IT CAUSING THE FUEL HOSE TO LEAK AND POSSIBLE FIR CAN RESULT! LINCOLN DESIGNED THE PLASTIC HOLDER TO HOLD HOSE AGAINST DRIVE SHAFT. THE PORTION OF MY DRIVE SHAFT THAT HAS BEEN RUBBING AGAINST THE FUEL HOSE HAS BEEN HIGHLY POLISHED TO A CHROME FINISH. FUEL HOSE IS LEAKING AT A GOOD RATE WHILE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. *JB
I AM A OWNER OF A 1993 LINCOLN MARK 8 AND I AM WRITING TO YOU WITH THE CONCERN OF MY HEADLIGHTS. THEY ARE TURNING BROWN AND GETTING DARKER AS THE SEASONS CHANGE . I HAVE ASKED FORD/LINCOLN ABOUT A DEFECT ABOUT THEM AND THEY SAY IM ON MY OWN WITH THEM, EVERY OWNER OF THE MARK 8 HAS THE SIMILAR PROBLEM, THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN ESPECIALLY FOR THE KIDS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. THE HEADLAMPS ARE VERY DIM DUE TO THE REFLECTIVE COATING COMING OFF OF THE INSIDE OF THE HEADLAMPS. IT A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION YOU HAVE TO USE THE HI BEAMS TO BE ABLE TO SEE. ON THE DIM SETTING IT IS SIMILAR TO TRYING TO SEE WITH A CANDLE AS A LIGHT. *JB

THE REFLECTIVE COATING INSIDE THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING BURNS OFF PREMATURELY RESULTING IN GREATLY REDUCED ILLUMINATION. I HAD TO BUY NEW HEADLIGHT HOUSINGS AT $235 EACH TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE SAFELY AT NIGHT. *NM

MY HEADLIGHTS ARE ALMOST COMPLETELY USELESS. THEY ARE YELLOW AND DINGY BECAUSE OF THE MATERIAL USED IN THEIR MANUFACTURE. IT POSES A MAJOR THREAT TO ME AND EVERYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD WHEN I HAVE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. THERE IS NO WAY TO PERMANENTLY FIX THEM, OTHER THAN TO MAKE NEW HEADLIGHTS THAT DON'T GLAZE OVER. *NM

HEADLIGHTS ON MY 1993 LINCOLN MARK VIII ARE VERY DANGEROUS. THE LOW BEAMS ARE SO DIM THAT I AM FORCED TO DRIVE WITH THE HEADLIGHTS SET ON HIGH-BEAMS. THE REFLECTIVE MATERIAL IN THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY IS TO BLAME. IT IS BURNED OFF AND DULL. I'M NOT THE ONLY FIRST GENERATION MARK VIII OWNER WITH THIS PROBLEM. IT SEEMS TO AFFECT ALL MODELS FROM 93 TO 96. *NM
HEADLAMP DESIGN FAILED FROM OUTSET. LITTLE DIFFERENCE AT NIGHT WITH HEADLAMPS ON OR OFF. THIS IS BEYOND DANGEROUS. "IMPROVED" BULBS AND POLISHING OF LENSES COULD NOT COMPENSATE FOR THE POOR FACTORY DESIGN. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 LINCOLN MARK EIGHT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ALMOST HIT A GUARD RAIL. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR APPROXIMATELY 35 MINUTES THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED BACK ON. HE DID HAVE TO PLACE THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH BETWEEN THE ON AND OFF INDICATOR TO GET THE HEADLIGHTS TO WORK. THE SERVICE DEALER HAS NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THERE IS A RECALL 98009000 REGARDING THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING: HEADLIGHT: SWITCH FOR THIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE RECALL REGARDING THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT HAS ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONSUMER DID NOT OWN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME THE REPAIR WAS DONE. *AK
DT: THE OWNER WAS DRIVING ABOUT 55 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE YESTERDAY AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHIMMY. THE OWNER WENT SLOWER AND STAYED TO THE RIGHT. THE OWNER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE MECHANIC. UPON INSPECTION, THE MECHANIC SAW THE STEEL BELT COMING OUT OF TIRE. THE RIGHT REAR TIRE HAD TO BE REPLACED. B.F.GOODRICH STATED THAT THE TIRES HAD JUST WORN OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. OWNER DID NOT THINK THAT SIX YEARS WAS TOO OLD OR THAT 43,000 MILES WAS ENOUGH FOR THEM TO WEAR OUT. THE OWNER WAS NOT AWARE OF HOW MANY MILES THESE TIRES SHOULD HAVE ON THEM BEFORE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. LAST YEAR THE LEFT FRONT TIRE HAD A STEEL BELT COMING OUT AS WELL AND HAD TO REPLACE IT. THE OWNER WAS AWARE THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO FILE A SECOND COMPLAINT TO NOTE THE SECOND TIRE INFORMATION, ALTHOUGH IT WAS THE SAME BRAND OF TIRE, WITH THE SAME LINE AND SIZE.*AK *JB
