FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 Lexus LS vehicles manufactured May 9, 2006, to July 20, 2010, 2006-2011 Lexus GS vehicles manufactured January 6, 2005, to September 10, 2010, and 2006-2011 Lexus IS vehicles manufactured August 30, 2005, to September 10, 2010. Due to anti-corrosion plating remnants, fuel may leak from where the fuel pressure sensor is attached to the fuel delivery pipe.
Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will clean and reseal the fuel pressure sensor mounting area, free of charge. The recall began March 3, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.

STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM
TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009 AND 2010 LEXUS LS460 AND LS600 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM AUGUST 20, 2009 THROUGH MAY 13, 2010. A PROGRAMMING CHANGE OF THE STEERING CONTROL ECU FOR THE VARIABLE GEAR RATIO STEERING (VGRS) SYSTEM CAN CAUSE IMPROPER ACTIVATION OF THE STEERING SYSTEM PROTECTION LOGIC DESIGNED TO PROTECT THE SYSTEM WHEN LARGER THAN NORMAL STEERING INPUTS ARE APPLIED AT A FULLY TURNED POSITION.
Remedy: TOYOTA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND LEXUS DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE STEERING CONTROL ECU FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 12, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:CRANK/CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR Nov 26, 2021
The contact owns a 2010 Lexus LS460 L. The contact stated while driving at 60 MPH, the check engine and hazard warning light illuminated, and the vehicle decelerated independently. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed of an engine misfire. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to the local dealer and was diagnosed with a fractured valve spring. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

THIS VEHICLE SEEMS LIKE IT WAS DAMAGED FROM THE START. EVER SINCE THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM PRESTIGE LEXUS NJ, IT'S JUST BEEN GIVING US PROBLEMS ALL THE TIME. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS CAR WAS FACTORY DAMAGED, OR THE DEALERSHIP REWINDED THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR BECAUSE A CAR AT 30,000 MILES SHOULDN'T HAVE PROBLEMS CONSTANTLY. WE PAYED A LOT FOR THE CAR AND PLUS EXTRA 2.000$ FOR WARRANTY DOESN'T HELP AT ALL, THESE COMPANY'S JUST WANT MONEY, THEY NEVER HELP. WE DRIVE THIS CAR VERY CAUTIOUSLY AND ONCE WE WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND OUR AIR COMPRESSOR BROKE AND OUR CAR STOPPED IN TH MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND WE HAD A TOW TRUCK TAKE IT TO LEXUS. ON 08/27/2018 AT 11:30 A.M. I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXTENDED ON-RAMP TO ROUTE 288 IN CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA AT ABOUT 55 MPH. IT WAS SUNNY, NOT HUMID AND THE TEMPERATURE WAS IN THE HIGH 70'S; THE ROADWAY WAS SMOOTH AND CLEAR OF OBSTRUCTIONS. MY A/C WAS ON, THE WINDOWS WERE UP AND MY MOONROOF WAS CLOSED AND THE SHADE PROTECTOR WAS SHUT. THERE WERE NO VEHICLES IN MY SIGHT IN ANY DIRECTION. ALL OF A SUDDEN, I HEARD A VERY LOUD NOISE, LIKE A SHOTGUN GOING OFF IN A CLOSED ROOM, AND IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR I SAW DEBRIS COMING FROM MY VEHICLE AND LANDING ON THE ROADWAY BEHIND ME. THINKING THAT SOMETHING HAD COME FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY CAR, I PULLED OVER AND EXAMINED THE REAR AND UNDERNEATH OF MY VEHICLE. FINDING NOTHING AMISS, I WAS SURPRISED, BUT WAS EVEN MORE SURPRISED WHEN WALKING BACK TO THE DRIVER'S DOOR, I OBSERVED THAT MY MOONROOF HAD EXPLODED! THERE WAS A LARGE HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF MY MOONROOF, AND THE MISSING GLASS WAS OBVIOUSLY WHAT I HAD SEEN FLYING FROM THE BACK OF MY CAR. THERE WAS PIECES OF GLASS ON THE SHADE. HAD THE SHADE NOT BEEN SHUT, THAT GLASS WOULD HAVE ENTERED THE INTERIOR OF MY VEHICLE. MY CAR HAD BEEN PARKED IN THE SHADE ALL MORNING EXCEPT FOR A PERIOD OF ABOUT 30 MINUTES WHILE I ATE LUNCH IN A RESTAURANT, WHERE IT HAD BEEN PARKED OUT IN THE OPEN. I HAD ONLY BEEN DRIVING THE CAR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES BEFORE THE INCIDENT, AND BEFORE DRIVING THE CAR I HAD OBSERVED THE MOONROOF AND HAD NOTICED NO ISSUES WITH IT. I HAVE HAD NO PRIOR ISSUES WITH THE MOONROOF.

AUTOMOBILE HESITATES, THEN SURGES UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE CAR FEELS AS IF IT IS SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL, THEN INTO GEAR, WHILE IN NORMAL DRIVING MODE, CAUSING A SUDDEN UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN DEMONSTRATED AT: 1. NORMAL CITY DRIVING WITH NO ADDITIONAL THROTTLE APPLIED. 2. FREEWAY DRIVING WITH NO ADDITIONAL THROTTLE APPLIED. 3. FREEWAY DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL. 4.WHEN STARTING FROM A DEAD STOP 5. WHEN ACCELERATING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC THIS ISSUE OCCURS IN ALL DRIVING MODES (ECO, NORMAL, POWER). IT IS INTERMITTENT, BUT HAS BEEN INCREASING IN FREQUENCY. BECAUSE THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT, THE THROTTLE RESPONSE IS UNPREDICTABLE. IT HAS CAUSED SEVERAL NEAR MISSES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP, ALMOST HITTING CAR IN FRONT. IT HAS ALSO MADE MERGING ON TO FREEWAY DANGEROUS DUE TO HESITATION AND NO RESPONSE FROM ACCELERATOR. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE LEXUS DEALER SINCE 5,000 MILE SERVICE. AFTER COMPLAINTS AT EVERY SERVICE (CAR NOW HAS 25,000 MILES), DEALER KEPT CAR FOR TWO WEEKS FOR DIAGNOSTICS. RESULTS OF DIAGNOSTICS AS FOLLOWS: "AT 70MPH WITH ACCELERATION IN ECO MODE),FELT TWO DOWN SHIFTS DURING ACCELERATION WHICH GIVES THE SENSATION THAT THERE IS NO ACCELERATION, THEN SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THIS ACCELERATION IS NOT AS GREAT IN REGULAR MODE BUT CAN STILL BE FELT. THIS IS A NORMAL ACTION OF THE TRANSMISSION OPERATION. NO REPAIRS PERFORMED NEEDED OR RECOMMENDED."

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 LEXUS LS460L. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE CONTACT MADE A U-TURN AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME STUCK. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOTIFIED WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1100. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 400.
