KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) is recalling certain 2019-2023 Husqvarna and KTM motorcycles with equipped with TKC80 tires. Please refer to KTM's recall report for specific model details. Cracks longer than 3/16 inch may develop in the tread grooves. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 119, "New Pneumatic Tires-Other Than Passenger Cars."
Remedy: Dealers will replace the affected tires, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 16, 2022. Owners may contact KTM's customer service at 1-888-985-6090. KTM's numbers for this recall are KTB2208 and HTB2207.

The contact owns a 2021 KTM 890 Adventure R Rally. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, it would only start on one cylinder with an abnormally strong gasoline odor coming from the exhaust. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle stalled again as the contact was accelerating from a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that no issues were found; however, a software update was performed. The contact also stated that the instrument cluster gauge inadvertently turned off while he was driving. The contact stopped and turned off the motorcycle. The motorcycle was restarted, and the gauges operated as designed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100.
