CERTAIN HONEYWELL FRAM RACING BRAND HP4 AND HP8 OIL FILTERS THAT WERE MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 25, 2006, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 14, 2007, AND SOLD FOR USE AS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR VEHICLES LIST ABOVE. THE AFFECTED FILTERS ARE MARKED WITH A DATE CODE A61451 THROUGH A72571 SEQUENTIALLY. THE DATE CODE AND PART NUMBER APPEAR ON THE FILTER HOUSING. FRAM RACING HP4 AND HP8 OIL FILTERS NOT BEARING A DATE CODE IN THIS RANGE ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL. THE GASKET OF THE OIL FILTER BECOMES MORE PLIABLE UNDER HIGH TEMPERATURES AND PRESSURES.
Remedy: HONEYWELL WILL REPLACE THE AFFECTED OIL FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN DURING NOVEMBER 2007. OWNERS CAN CONTACT FRAM CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLL-FREE AT 1-800-890-2075.

BRAKE FLUID BEGAN LEAKING FROM UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. CLOSER INSPECTION REVEALED THE BRAKE LINE HAD CORRODED AND BEGAN TO LEAK. THIS WAS REPLACED IN JANUARY 2011. AFTER REPLACING BOTH FRONT BRAKE PADS AND PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKE LINE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BURST AND AFTER INSPECTING THIS BRAKE LINE AS WELL, IT WAS CORRODED AND FINALLY GAVE WAY DUE TO THE EXTRA PRESSURE EXERTED BY THE NEW UNWORN BRAKE PAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE REPLACED THE HUBS, ROTORS, CALIPERS, AND MASTER CYLINDER AS A TEMPORARY REMEDY, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE TRUCK STOPPED RUNNING WHILE DRIVING,TRIED TO START THE TRUCK WITH NO LUCK. HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. TRUCK RA FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND THEN GOT TO WHERE IT WOULDN'T RUN AND NOW IT WONT EVEN START. I HAD IT TOWED BACK IN AND THEY TESTED THE FUEL PUMP AND IT WAS GOOD. THE DEALERSHIP RESEARCHED THAT YEAR AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL INJECTOR STICKING CAUSING IT TO DO THAT. THERE WAS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT OUT WARNING PEOPLE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THESE TRUCKS. THE PARTS ARE WELL OVER $700. NOTHING IS BEING DONE BY GM TO FIX THE PROBLEM SO THE TRUCK IS NOT DRIVABLE UNTIL IT GETS FIXED. GM NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND FIX THESE VEHICLES SINCE THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *TR

THERE IS A WELL DOCUMENTED RECALL OF THE WIPER MODULE ASSEMBLY FOR GM TRUCKS/VANS. MY TRUCK IS A 1997 GMC K1500. WHEN I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY PARTICULAR VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL VIN RANGE. THERE IS NO DOUBT MY TRUCK HAS THE BAD PARTS ILLUSTRATED IN THE RECALL(S) (EG, EA02006). I GUESS THIS CONNECTOR THAT MATES THROUGH THE TANK HAS HAD A HISTORY OF ARCING BURNING HERE. ALSO THE CONNECTOR DEFECT ISNT EASILY NOTICABLE TO THE TECHNICIAN. WHEN THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS MOVED THE SEAT BELT WOULD BE IN THE WAY AND AND THE SEAT WOULD GET STUCK ON THE SEAT BELT. THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT LATCH WHICH CONNECTS THE SHOULDER HARNESS TO THE CAR BROKE OFF. ANYONE RIDING IN THE CAR WOULD BE TICKETED FOR NOT WEARING A SEAT BELT AND NO USE OF THE SEAT BELT WITH AN AIRBAG EQUIPED. 1997 GMC TRUCK. WHEN TURNING TO THE RIGHT, SOMETIMES THERE IS NO RESISTANCE ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE TRUCK CAN VEER (HARD RIGHT) AT ANY SPEED. THE SLIGHTEST WEIGHT OF YOUR HAND CAN UNEXPECTEDLY CAUSE AN IMMEDIATE HARD RIGHT TURN. FAULTY E.V.O. ROTATION SENSOR REPLACED BY DEALER ON 06/25/98, 5/24/99 AND 8/27/99. GM EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THIS SENSOR TO 65,000 MILES. SENSOR IS STILL DEFECTIVE. THIS DEFECT CAN AND PROBABLE HAS CAUSED SEVERE ACCIDENTS AND POSSIBLE DEATH. OLD PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH AND TURNING THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF VEHICLE, PULLED OVER, AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. CONSUMER TRIED TO RESTART VEHICLE, AND WAS ABLE TO START AND DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. HOWEVER, MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. CONSUMER INFORMED THE MECHANIC THAT THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. *AK THE VEHICLE PULLED SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT WHILE DRIVING AROUND RIGHT CURVES AT 35-45 MPH. THE PROBLEM BECAME MORE FREQUENT OVER TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PRIVATE TIRE SHOP. THE TECHNICIAN THERE KNEW IMMEDIATELY THAT THE POWER STEERING SENSOR WAS THE PROBLEM BECAUSE HE HAD SEEN THIS PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES ON OTHER GM PICK-UPS. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY 1997 GMC SUBURBAN. THE CAMPAIGN NUMBER IS 03023. THE DEFECT WAS RELATED TO THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR STOPPING WHICH HAS RECENTLY HAPPENED TO US DURING HEAVY RAINS. WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP (TUCKS TRUCKS IN HUDSON MA), THEY REFUSED WORKING ON THE VEHICLE AS THE GM SYSTEM SHOWED A CAMPAIGN STATUS AS "CLOSED". I CONTACTED GM AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT. IN THE MEAN TIME I HAVE WIPERS THAT STOP WORKING INTERMITTENTLY DURING RAINSTORMS.
