CERTAIN R&B, INC. CENTRAL MULTIPORT FUEL INJECTION (CMFI) FUEL RETURN LINES, MODELS HELP 55163, NAPA BALKAMP 700-3270, AND THE CONNECTION 2560001, SOLD FOR USE AS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR THE VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. THE FUEL RETURN LINE HAS A MECHANICAL BLEED VALVE WHICH WAS NOT INSTALLED AT THE PROPER TORQUE.
Remedy: R&B, INC. WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND AT THE CUSTOMERS REQUEST, EITHER REPLACE THE FUEL LINE OR OFFER A FULL REFUND. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 4, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT R&B, INC. AT 215-712-5330.

TREAD SEPERATION IN PHANTOM A/P TIRE THAT WAS MANAUFACTURED WITHIN TIME PERIOD OF NHTSA ACTION #PE02056. SUBSTANTIAL PHYSICAL INJURY TO 72 YEAR OLD DRIVER AND TOTAL LOSS OF VEHICLE. RIMKUS CONSUTLING SERVICES EXPERT GARRET MITCHELL MADE THE FOLLOWING CONCLUSIONS: 1.A DEFECT IN THE LEFT-REAR TIRE ON THE CHEVROLET CAUSED THE TREAD TO SEPARATE FROM THE CARCASS. THE NATURE OF THE FAILURE IS CONSISTENT WITH CONTAMINATION OR IMPROPER VULCANIZATION OF THE TIRE COMPONENTS DURING MANUFACTURING. 2. THE SUDDEN FAILURE OF THE TIRE CAUSED THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND SUBSEQUENTLY COLLIDE WITH A SOLID OBJECT. "THERE WAS A PRESENCE OF POLISHING AND BLUING ON THE RUBBER CARCASS OF THE TIRE [WHICH INDICATED] OVERHEATING OF THE TIRE. . . . IF EVIDENCE OF OVERHEATING IS OBSERVED AROUND THE ENTIRE CIRCUMFERENCE OF THE TIRE, FLEXING OF THE TIRE DUE TO OVERLOADING OR UNDER-INFLATION IS INDICATED. IN THIS CASE, HOWEVER, THE EVIDENCE OF OVERHEATING IS LIMITED TO ONE AREA OF THE TIRE, SPECIFICALLY THE AREA WHERE THE TREAD BEGAN TO SEPARATE FROM THE CARCASS. THIS INDICATES LOCALIZED OVERHEATING DUE TO FRICTION BETWEEN ADJACENT TIRE COMPONENTS WAS TAKING PLACE IN THIS AREA. FURTHERMORE, THE REMAINING TREAD IN THIS AREA IS UNEVENLY WORN, INDICATING A DISCONTINUITY IN THE TIRE STRUCTURE AT THIS LOCATION. THESE OBSERVATIONS INDICATE THE COMPONENTS OF THE TIRE WERE NOT PROPERLY BONDED TOGETHER IN THE AREA WHERE THE TREAD SEPARATION BEGAN."

IN THE MIDST OF BRAKING ON DAMP OR WET (BUT WITHOUT STANDING WATER) OR MUDDY ROAD SURFACE, AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING, THE BRAKES WILL CUT OUT FOR A MOMENT. IT FEELS LIKE YOU'VE HIT AN ICE PATCH. ONE TIME I WOUND UP STOPPING IN THE INTERSECTION RATHER THAN BEFORE IT (WITH NO RESULTING ACCIDENT). I HAVE HAD MY MECHANIC CHECK ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. HE CANNOT FIND ANYTHING THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS AND WE HAVEN'T HAD THE RIGHT ROAD CONDITIONS TO ATTEMPT TO DUPLICATE THIS SCARY SITUATION. PRIOR TO COMPLETING THIS FORM, I SAW THE RECALL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 99V193000) WHICH SEEMS TO DESCRIBE THE PROBLEM I HAVE BEEN HAVING SO I CALLED THE GMC NUMBER GIVEN BY NHTSA. GMC APPARENTLY DOES NOT CONSIDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NO. 99V193000 A REAL RECALL YET, AND THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE I TALKED TO (AT LENGTH) RECOMMENDED I WAIT UNTIL THE RECALL WENT INTO EFFECT -- IF IT GOES INTO EFFECT -- BECAUSE OTHERWISE MY MONETARY OUTPUT COULD BE QUITE HIGH AND MOST LIKELY, MOSTLY UNREIMBURSABLE (EVEN IF MY CAR FALLS UNDER THE RECALL) SINCE AT THIS STAGE THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR. WAS REPAIRED 10/10/97. EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM 2 MONTHS AGO. THE LEFT SPEED SENSOR WAS REPLACED. LEFT DEALERSHIP & APPLIED BRAKES (ABS) & THEY LOCKED UP. WENT BACK TO DEALER.
