DUCATI IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2012 848, STREETFIGHTER, HYPERMOTARD, MULTISTRADA, AND MONSTER MOTORCYCLES. THE FRICTION MATERIAL MAY DETACH FROM THE BACKING PLATE OF THE REAR BRAKE PADS.
Remedy: DUCATI WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE, AS NECESSARY, THE REAR BRAKE PADS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 21, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DUCATI AT 1-800-231-6696 OR GO TO THEIR WEBSITE AT WWW.DUCATI.COM.

Rear brake pedal unexpectedly soft. Brakes bled in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and fluid use (DOT5.1). Brake regains firmness, but quickly looses effectiveness and becomes soft, limiting braking capability. Alternate bleeding method also attempted with similar results. Brake pedal will remain firm for some time, but then returns to soft feel, creating unexpected braking performance.
THE REAR BRAKE WENT OUT TWICE. I HAD IT FIXED UNDER WARRANTY IN SEPTEMBER OF 2013. NOW IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE REAR BRAKE IS OUT AGAIN. THE COMPANY REFUSES TO FIX THE ISSUE TILL I PAY OUT OF POCKET FIRST. THE REAR BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELS TO THE FLOOR WITH NO BITE AT ALL. I'VE READ ON FORUMS THAT I AM NOT THE FIRST TO HAVE THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DUCATI MONSTER 1100 EVO 1100. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE REAR WHEEL SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR BRAKES FAILED. AS A RESULT, THE REAR MASTER CYLINDER, THE BRAKE PADS AND THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, THE DEALER NOTIFIED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V188000 ( SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE.
