I had brought my 2003 Stratus and 2007 Caliber in to the dealership for their 3000 mile oil change and check-up. When the Stratus was done, I switched it out with the Caliber. The receptionist came into the waiting room to inform me that my vehicle was dangerous to drive. The engine cradle had rotted out. The manager had asked her to tell me: "If you hit a big bump, your engine could fall out." She showed me a picture of the area in question. I asked what I was supposed to be looking for and was shown where the cradle was supposed to be. A post-it note was on the picture saying that the manager "will do some pricing". The invoice states: "We question the structural integrity of it being able to hold up much longer." When I did not hear anything for a few weeks, I called in and was told that it had not been done but the manager would get right on it. I had asked the manager how this could have been missed during all the years I had been bringing it in for any kind of maintenance and was told: "It probably looks worse that what it should because I poked it with a screwdriver a few times to see how bad it was." Invoice total: $1884.20. I have since spoken with a general manager for Magna Corporation who produced the cradle for the Caliber. They were aware of the design flaw of the cradle that did not allow for drainage of water/road chemicals from the cradle. A lawsuit was filed by Magna against Dodge which Magna won. The particulars of the lawsuit were not made known to me other than Magna charges $42 for the cradle, but I was billed $859. I have found numerous customer complaints online over the corrosion of the cradle in other Dodge model years as well. The 2007 Caliber seems to have more overall customer complaints that all othe model years combined.

MY 2012 DODGE JOURNEY STARTED HAVING POWER STEERING ISSUES AS SOON AS THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE BEGAN TO GET COLDER. IT NOW IS ON A DAILY BASIS THAT I KEEP PUTTING POWER STEERING FLUID IN. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THE RECALL IS NOT AFFECTING MY CAR AT ALL. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR IN JUNE OF 2019 AND NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL IT BEGAN TO GET COLD OUT. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO HAVE IT REPAIRED ON MY WON.

MY 2012 DODGE AVENGER IS CLICKING BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX AND BLOWING HOT AIR FROM THE DRIVER SIDE AND COLD AIR FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND HAD TO PAY $1200 FOR A HEATER CORE. AFTER 3 MONTHS SAME PROBLEM.. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY AGAIN... THIS IS A DODGE DEFECT AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL .

MY NAME IS [XXX] AND I AM COMPLAINING ABOUT MY 2009 DODGE JOURNEY R/T AWD. FIRST THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OR WIRING HARNESS HAS A SEVERE PROBLEM. IT DOES NOT WANT TO START LIKE IT SHOULD. I'VE BEEN THROUGH 2 GOOD INTERSTATE BATTERIES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS THAT HAVE NOT SEEMED TO WORK. NEXT AND THE MOST DANGEROUS IS THE BRAKING SYSTEM WHICH IS TO SMALL FOR THIS VEHICLE. FROM WHAT I HAVE RESEARCHED THEY USED A BRAKING SYSTEM FROM A DODGE MAGNUM(IN THE SERIES 1 FROM 2008-2012) WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED FROM AN SUV. THE ROTORS WHERE OUT AFTER 9000 MILES WHILE THE FRONT PADS GO AFTER 3000-4000 MILES. LEAVING THE BACK BRAKE PADS WITH THE LONGEST LIFE OF AROUND 5000 MILES THIS IS WITH AGGRESSIVE OR NON-AGGRESSIVE DRIVING IT DOESN'T MATTER. THIS KIND OF BRAKE AND ROTOR WEAR AND TEAR IS NOWADAYS UNHEARD OF. THIS KIND OF VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND VERY EXPENSIVE FOR THE AVERAGE AMERICAN VEHICLE OWNER. THESE VEHICLES ARE AS PLAIN AS DAY AS MUCH OF A LEMON AS THEY COME. BETWEEN THE ELECTRICAL OR IGNITION PROBLEMS THAT ARE AS PLAIN AS DAY AND CAN NOT BE FIXED BY YOUR AVERAGE MECHANIC AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. ALSO THE BREAKING SYSTEM WHICH IS TO SMALL THAT ALSO CAN'T BE FIXED WITHOUT MANY THOUSAND DOLLARS WORTH OF PARTS AND LABOR. NOT TO MENTION THE THOUSANDS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN PUT INTO THESE PROBLEMS THAT DID NOT FIX FOR LONG. THE ONLY OTHER THING THAT I FEEL THAT CAN HAPPEN IS FOR THERE TO BE A RECALL BY DODGE. TO FIX THE ELECTRICAL-IGNITION PROBLEM AND TO HAVE A BIGGER BREAKING SYSTEM PUT ON LIKE THEY DID THE (SERIES 2 JOURNEY FROM 2012 ON TILL NOW). AND THE BRAKING ISSUES ARE BETTER. SO IF THEY CAN DO IT NOW WHY CAN THEY FIX THE SERIES 1. I THINK IT'S A COMBINATION OF LAZINESS AND GREEDINESS WITH THERE MONEY. CHRYSLER 5.7 ENGINE HAS A VERY LARGE FAILURE RATE ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THEY USED SUBSTANDARD MAYERIALS AND CUSTOMERS ARE HAVING TO SPEND MONEY ON REPAIRS THAT ARE OUT OF THE NORM FOR VEHICLE COST. THIS PROBLEM IS SO WIDE SPREAD THAT IT IS TEFERRED TO AS "THE HEMI TOCK" BY AUTO TECHNICIANS, SERVICE PERSONAL AND CHAT GROUPS. THIS IS SO BAD THAT SOME REFER TO IT AS A MAINT FIX THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED ON A REGULAR BASIS.

THIS HAS BEEN OCCURING FOR 1.5 YEARS AND IS GETTING WORSE. 2006 DODGE CHARGER 3.5L HAS PROBLEMS IN WARM WEATHER STALLING BRIEFLY UPON TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENS MORE WHEN GAS TANK IS FILLED COMPLETELY. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND COULD CAUSE ME TO GET REAR ENDED ON THE INTERSTATE TRYING TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC THAT IS AT FULL SPEED. CERTAIN MODELS HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE FUEL TANK, BUT NOT ON MY VIN NUMBER. I RESEARCHED AND KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS (GAS TANK), BUT THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED OR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY NEEDS TO BE DONE FOR THE PART ON MY VEHICLE.

HAD IT CHECKED BY LOCAL SHOP, THEY THINK THE PROBLEM IS THE TIMP, WHICH THE DEALER SAID IS NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION. SHOULDN'T THERE BE PARTS AVAILABLE FOR THIS VEHICLE? I HAVE A 2007 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE A NOISE CHECKED IT TURNED OUT TO BE A HUB ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, IT TOOK THEM A LONG TIME TO GET THE HUB OFF AND THEN AFTER THAT WHEN I HAD THE REAR BRAKES REPLACE THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD NOT OFF EVERYONE TOLD ME THAT WAS NOT A REAL PROBLEM. BUT THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD THAT CHECK AND THEY SAID IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH A PART THAT HAD TO DO WITH GAS MILAGE. I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO GET THAT FIXED BUT WAS TOLD THAT WAS NOT A REAL PROBLEM. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO OR SO I DROVE TO WORK AND CAR WAS FINE BUT WHEN I CAME OUT TO GO HOME THERE WAS A NOISE WAS NOT SURE WHAT IT WAS BUT WHEN I GOT HOME MY SON CHECKED THE OIL AND ALL THE OIL WAS OUT OF THE VAN THE OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. NOW THE VAN IS NOT DRIVABLE AND THE ENGINE IS SHOT. THE OIL LIGHT DID WORK BEFORE THIS AND I HAD THE OIL CHANGED BEFORE THAT AND NO OIL ON THE GROUND.

THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY; WHEN IT IS COLD, THE ENGINE WILL REV-UP BETWEEN SHIFTS, AND IT HAS SEVERE DOWNSHIFTS. DRIVER SIDE REAR BRAKE CALIBER MECHANISM. I HAS THE CALIBER REPLACED IN MARCH AND HAD NEW BREAK PADS AND ROTORS INSTALLED. I DROVE ABOUT LESS THAN 3000 MILE AND HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAVE REPLACED THE ENTIRE BREAK CALIBER FULLY LOADED MECHANISM AND DROVE 20 MILES AND HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED DUE TO THE BREAK CALIBER FREEZING AGAIN. MY 2008 DODGE AVENGER HAD BEEN SITTING IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE SINCE THE BEGINNING OF MAY 2011. ON THE 24TH OF JUNE 2011 I DECIDED TO TAKE IT IN TO THE DODGE DEALERS TO HAVE IT FIXED. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED TO MAKE A LOUD ROARING NOISE AND JERK. I DROVE INTO AN EXIT IN ORDER TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. WHILE TRYING TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO ENTER THE YARD OF A STATION I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. THE CAR KEPT SLIDING TOWARDS THE CURB. I HAD TO QUICKLY PULL UP THE HANDBRAKES TO STOP THE CAR FROM RUNNING INTO THE CURB AND BEYOND. THEN IT STALLED BLOCKING THE ENTRANCE TO THE GAS STATION. BEFORE TOTALLY STOPPING, ALL THE LIGHTS AND INDICATORS ON THE DASH BOARD WERE GOING ON AND OFF LIKE CRAZY THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT I HAVE HAD TO TOW THE CAR IN TO THE DODGE PEOPLE. THE FIRST TIME, IN 2010, THE SHIFT STICK WOULD NOT BUDGE FROM PARK TO DRIVE AND THE CAR JUST WOULDN'T START. WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DODGE DEALER IN BALTIMORE. IN JANUARY OF 2011, WE HAD HAD TO TAKE THE CAR IN TO DODGE REPAIR SHOP FOR A PROBLEM FOR WHICH THEY HAD RECALLED THEIR VEHICLES, INCLUDING OURS. WE MENTIONED TO THE MECHANICS AT THE DODGE REPAIR SHOP ABOUT A LOUD NOISE THAT WE WERE HEARING. THEY HAD SAID THAT THE LOUD NOISE WAS PROBABLY THE ALTERNATOR. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR IN MARCH 2009 AT A FORD DEALER IN BALTIMORE. WE NOTICED VERY SOON AFTER, THAT THE CLOCK RACED AHEAD. I WENT ON THE INTERNET AND THE REPAIR FORUM INDICATED THAT HUNDREDS OF THE SAME SITUATION EXISTED WITH THE GRAND CARAVAN. NO RECALL EXISTED, BUT THIS CERTAINLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN WITH THIS SAFETY MALFUNCTION. I WAS ADVISED TO REMOVE THE OID FUSE AND REMOVE THE BATTERY CABLE. WHILE THIS WORKED IN A MAJORITY OF CASES, IT DID NOT WORK FOR ME. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD BE THE BCM OR DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR OR DOOR HARNESS. IF THE 'HARNESS' WAS BROKEN WOULD THE DOOR BE ABLE TO CLOSE OR OPEN? I WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT THIS COULD COST BETWEEN $80.00 AND $500.00. SEEMS LIKE A LARGE 'SPREAD OF COST' TO ME.
