ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR MAY MELT RESULTING IN A BURNING SMELL AND VISIBLE SMOKE, WHICH MAY SUBSEQUENTLY LEAD TO THE MELTING OF THE CAMSHAFT COVER AND THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WIRE HARNESS.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSORS AND INSTALL AN ADDITIONAL FUSE. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT DAEWOO PUERTO RICO AT 1-877-362-1234 OPTION 6.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 DAEWOO NUBIRA. ON DECEMBER 1, 2006, ALL FOUR TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WERE REPLACED WITH 2005 COOPER TIRES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP TO HAVE HER TIRES ROTATED AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIRES WERE MANUFACTURED ON DECEMBER 1, 2005. SHE TOOK THE TIRES BACK TO WHERE SHE PURCHASED THEM AND WANTED NEW REPLACEMENT TIRES. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED HER THAT THEY WERE REQUIRED BY LAW TO SELL TIRES THAT WERE A YEAR OLD. THE TIRE SIZE AND DOT NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,590 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,232.

I AM UNABLE TO PAY ANOTHER TIME FOR THIS RECALL. CONTACTED DAEWOO AT THE NUMBER PLACED ON YOUR WEBSITE. THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO DO RECALL WORK UNLESS I PAID FOR LABOR AND PART FIRST AND THEN CONTACT DAEWOO FOR REIMBURSEMENT. I CANNOT GET MY TAGS WHICH I ALREADY PAID FOR BECAUSE CAR WILL NOT PASS SMOG. THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER BUT HA NOT BEE SUCCESSFUL. THE CONSUMER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO LOCATE A SERVICE PROVIDER IN HIS AREA BECAUSE ALL THE DEALERS PREVIOUSLY ASSOCIATED WITH DAEWOO NO LONGER PROVIDE SERVICE ON THOSE AUTOMOBILES. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER ABOUT 100 MILES AWAY. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT HE PART WAS INDEED FAULTY BUT THE CONSUMER WOULD BE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING IT BECAUSE THE PART DIDN'T FALL WITHIN THE LOT #.
