AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain model year 2009-2010 ML320 BlueTec 4Matic, GL320 BlueTec 4Matic and R320 CDI 4Matic, 2011 E350 Cabriolet and E550 Cabriolet, 2009-2011 ML350, ML350 4Matic, ML550 4Matic, ML63 AMG, and C63 AMG, 2010-2011 ML450 4Matic Hybrid, E350 Coupe, E350 4Matic, E550 Coupe, E550 4Matic, and E63 AMG, 2011-2012 GL350 BlueTec 4Matic and R350 BlueTec 4Matic, 2009-2012 GL450 4Matic, GL550 4Matic and R350 4Matic, 2007-2008 SLK280, SLK350, and SLK55 AMG, 2011-2014 SLS AMG Coupe, 2012 SLS AMG Cabriolet, 2013-2014 SLS AMG GT and SLS AMG GT Cabriolet, 2005 C230 Kompressor and C320, 2006-2007 C230, 2006-2011 C350, 2008-2011 C300 and C300 4Matic, 2010-2012 GLK350 and GLK350 4Matic and 2007-2008 Chrysler Crossfire vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.
Remedy: MBUSA will their notify owners, and Fiat Chrysler will notify the affected Chrysler owners. Dealers for the respective brands will replace the driver's frontal air bag module, free of charge. This recall began November 2016. Mercedes-Benz owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 and Chrysler owners may contact Fiat Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403.

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Crossfire. The contact was advised of NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V081000 (AIR BAGS). The vehicle was taken to several dealers; however, the dealers refused to complete the recall repair. The contact was informed that since the vehicle was an older model, the dealers did not have the appropriate equipment to code the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and advised the contact that a Takata field inspector would reach out. The contact was informed that the air bag sensor had failed; however, due to the age of the vehicle and the equipment not being available, the air bag sensor would fail. The failure persisted, and the vehicle remained at the residence unrepaired. The vehicle was no longer driven out of safety concerns. The failure mileage was approximately 13,400.

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Crossfire. The contact received a recall notice from the manufacturer for NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V081000(Air Bags). The contact had taken the vehicle to several local dealers, where the contact was informed that the special tool needed to complete the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the air bag warning had illuminated recently. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was contacted, but the contact had not received a call back. The failure mileage was 17,726.

My car has 47,800 miles on it and is a convertible. Its a known problem among crossfire owners and it hasn't been resolved. The problem is the rear window is coming undone and just falls out. The dealerships won't fix it and auto repair shops want thousands of dollars. It's not only a quality issue but a HUGE safety issue as well. If that window was to fall while someone is driving the car it could injure them while they are driving or possibly fall onto the road and causing countless problems and injuries to the other motorists driving behind the car. Its not an issue of the owner of the car being negligent or miss using the vehicle, its a quality and safety issue.

Hello, I have installed Ground Control adjustable camber arms on my vehicle to permit camber adjustment to within factory recommendations. These same model camber arms are failing on a number of vehicles which are identical to mine (Chrysler Crossfire). My vehicle has not yet failed. A photo is attached. They pose an extreme safety hazard, as they can cause complete loss of vehicle control. There have been no injuries yet, but it is only a matter of time. Thank you for considering my report.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT FELT A BREEZE AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR WINDOW HAD DISENGAGED FROM THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROOF NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

RECEIVED FROM CHRYSLER AN AIR BAG RECALL NOTIFICATION OVER 6 MONTHS AGO. IN NOTIFICATION SAID THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE NOW. SAID THAT I WOULD NOTIFIED WHEN PART BECOMES AVAILABLE FOR FREE REPLACEMENT. HAVE RECEIVED NOTHING. THE PERIOD TO GET PART IS TOO LONG. THIS A KEY SAFETY ISSUE AND THE PART SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN MADE AVAILABLE.

TAKATA AIRBAG: THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG CAN RUPTURE, RESULTING IN INJURY OR DEATH. HOWEVER, CHRYSLER INDICATES THAT A REMEDY IS NOT AVAILABLE, AND HAS DISABLED THE AIRBAG, RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNDRIVEABLE WITHOUT PUTTING THE DRIVER AT UNACCEPTABLE RISK. DEALERSHIP INDICATES THAT THEY HAVE NO TIME FRAME FOR REPAIR, AS A SUITABLE REPAIR HAS NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED AND THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE RESOLVED.

WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON 05/20/13. THE LIGHT THAT WARNS OF AN AIR BAG PROBLEM WAS ON. WE TOOK IT TO FEENY CHRYSLER,DODGE JEEP IN GAYLORD MICHIGAN ON 06/10/13. THEY FOUND THAT MICE HAD CHEWED SOME OF THE WIRES. THEY REPAIRED THE WIRES AND REMOVED SOME MOUSE NESTS THAT THEY FOUND. HOWEVER THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND THEY SAID WE NEEDED A NEW AIR BAG MODULE. WE DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF AGAIN ON 06/26/14 TO HAVE THEM CHECK THE AIR BAG LIGHT AGAIN. THIS TIME THEY PUT A NEW MODULE IN AND THE LIGHT WAS STILL ON, INDICATING THAT THERE WAS NO COMMUNICATION TO THE MODULE. SO, THEY ORDERED ANOTHER MODULE AND INSTALLED IT. WHEN THAT ONE HAD THE SAME RESULT,(THE MODULE NOT COMMUNICATING), THEY CALLED CHRYSLER FOR HELP. THEY THEN WENT INTO THE DASHBOARD AND FOUND A PINCHED WIRE, FIXED THAT AND NOW EVERYTHING WORKS. MY POINT IS, IT WAS A MANUFACTURING ERROR ( A PINCHED WIRE) CREATING A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM FOR THE OWNER. THE PREVIOUS OWNER TOLD US THAT THE LIGHT WAS ON WHEN SHE BOUGHT IT IN 2011. AT THAT TIME IT WAS STILL UNDER THE WARRANTY AND I THINK IT SHOULD STILL BE COVERED NOW BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN SPITE OF THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE FACT THAT IT ONLY HAS 38333 MILES ON IT NOW. *TR

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I NOTICED A LOT OF ROAD NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR AREA AND FOUND THAT THE REAR WINDOW GLASS WAS COMING DETACHED FROM THE TOP FABRICK. OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS THE WINDOW AND ALMOST COMPLETELY COME APART FROM THE TOP. I HAVE FOUND THAT CHRYSLER HAS OFFERED THROUGH THEIR TSB-23035-11 REVA SERVICE BULLETIN TO COVER THIS PROBLEM ON 2005 MODELS UP TO TEN YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. MY PROBLEM IS IDENTICAL TO THE 2005 AND I ONLY HAVE ABOUT 57,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE BUT THEIR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CENTER ONLY REFERED ME TO THE DEALER WHO HAS STATED THAT THE TOP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1650 TO ME WITH NO ASSISTANCE FROM CHRYSLER. THE TOP IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND IT IS UNREALISTIC THAT THIS SHOULD BE ANYTHING BUT A MANUFATURING DEFECT. I HAVE SEEN ON THE INTERNET THAT MANY OTHER CROSSFIRE OWNERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AS I HAVE. *TR

I'D LIKE TO REPORT THE BACK WINDOW STARTING TO BECOME UNGLUED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP! I HAVE READ MANY REPORTS ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO THE 2005'S AND 2007'S. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE COVERED AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE! THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE THING TO FIX AT THE DEALER, REPLACING THE WHOLE TOP!!*JB

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
