BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS Aug 12, 2023
The rear sensor system design on the X6 does not work as described and the complaint was acknowledged by our BMW dealer “with nothing they can do”. When backing up out of a parking space, it does not alert for persons walking or driving by behind you unless they are only inches away. This has caused personal conflicts with persons walking who thought we should have stopped. And, we nearly had a horrible accident when changing lanes at freeway speeds in front of a semi - a pickup cut us off by jumping in our blind spot and no alert was received. Had I not finally seen him and took evasive action, we would have collided in front of the semi. I have seen similar unsatisfied owner complaints on the forums and there are likely other similar reports here. Thank you. We are selling this vehicle to get something safer.

2022 BMW X6. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO DEFECTIVE BRAKE DESIGN. THE CONSUMER WAS PERPLEXED ON HOW BMW MADE THEIR DETERMINATION IF THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER EXAMINED.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER Aug 27, 2022
When slowing the vehicle, at about 4-5 mph, the car seems to engage the auto-start system and force the car to lurch forward (adding power to the wheels) potentially causing an accident by forcing the car forward when the driver is attempting to slow the vehicle. This only happens 15% of the time (estimated). I have taken it back to two different BMW dealerships a total of four times, having the vehicle off the road for over 5 weeks. I have notified BMW North America, as well. They all say the vehicle is operating as intended. I feel that the car adding power to the wheels when a driver is intending to stop the vehicle is incredibly dangerous and will, at some point cause an accident or hit a pedestrian.
