AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2006-2011 3 Series Sedan (324i, 325i, 325xi, 328i, 328xi, 330i, 330xi, 335i, 335xi), 2006-2012 3 Series Sportswagon (325xi, 328i, 328xi), and 2009-2011 3 Series Sedan (335d) vehicles. The original steering wheel may have been replaced with a sport or M-sport steering wheel equipped with an inflator that can explode during deployment.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the driver's air bag module as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 30, 2024. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2008-2013 128i and 135i Convertibles, 128i, 135i, and M Coupes, 2007-2010 X3 30si and X3 xDrive30i, 2013-2015 X1 sDrive28i, X1 xDrive28i and X1 xDrive35i, 2007-2013 328i, 328i xDrive, 335i, 335is, 335i xDrive and M3 Coupes, 2006-2011 328i, 328xi, 328i xDrive, 325i, 325xi, 330i, 330xi, 335i, 335xi, 335i xDrive and M3, 2009-2011 335D, 2006-2012 325xi, 328i, 328xi and 328i xDrive, 2010-2011 X6 ActiveHybrid, 2007-2013 328i, 335i, 335is, M3 Coupes, X5 30si, X5 xDrive30i, X5 xDrive35i, X5 48i, X5 xDrive48i, X5 xDrive50i and X5 M, 2009-2013 X5 xDrive35d and 2008-2014 X6 xDrive35i, X6 xDrive50i and X6M vehicles equipped with non-desiccated driver frontal air bag inflators containing phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) that were used as interim remedy parts for previous Takata recalls. These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver air bag. On X5 and X6 vehicles, only the inflator will be replaced. All repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began March 11, 2020. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2006-2011 323i, 325i, 325xi, 328i, 328xi, 330i, 330xi, 335i, 335xi and M3, 2007-2011 328i xDrive, 335i xDrive and 335is and 2009-2011 335d vehicles. The wiring and electrical connectors for the system that controls air flow for the heating and air conditioning system may overheat.
Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the wiring and electrical connectors, free of charge. Interim letters were mailed on November 27, 2017. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy becomes available. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

BMW DRIVERS AIR BAG MODULE RECALL, CAMPAIGN NO. 16V-071. THE DRIVER'S FRONT AIR BAG MODULE RECALL FOR MY 2010 BMW 335I X-DRIVE COUPE, DATED 02-05-2016 WAS SENT TO ME IN MARCH 2016. I CALLED RICHMOND, VA BMW AS SOON AS I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE. I WAS TOLD THE AIR BAG MODULE WOULD BE PLACED ON ORDER. I FOLLOWED UP WITH KAY IN THE RICHMOND BMW SERVICE OFFICE ON 10-06-2016 AND WAS TOLD THE AIR BAG MODULE WAS PLACED ON ORDER. I CALLED RICHMOND BMW SERVICE DEPARTMENT AGAIN TODAY, 01-30-2017, AND WAS TOLD 30 MILLION BMWS WERE RECALLED FOR AIR BAG MODULES AND THAT THIS CAUSED THE DELAY. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE AIR BAG MODULES WERE SCHEDULED TO BE RECEIVED THIS SPRING 2017. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I CAN NOT JUST PARK MY CAR. A ONE YEAR DELAY TO REPLACE MY CAR'S AIR BAG MODULE IS UNACCEPTABLE SINCE THE AIR BAG MODULE COULD CAUSE MY "SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH."

TAKATA RECALL MY LOCAL KENTUCKY DEALER STATES THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN MY 6 YEAR OLD 335 WILL BE FIXED AND IT MAY TAKE ANOTHER TWO YEARS.. IT'S LIKE DRIVING AN AIR BAG TIME BOMB. THEY ALSO STATE KENTUCKY IS VERY LOW ON THE PRIORITY LIST SINCE THEY DON'T SELL AS MANY CARS. UNACCEPTABLE!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 BMW 335XI. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND OIL PRESSURE PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.

OIL PUMP PRESSURE WENT OUT ON 36,000 MILES AFTER A RECALL WAS DONE ON MY CAR BY BMW ON MAY 2013. THE RECALL WAS CHANGING THE ELECTRICAL BATTERY CABLES. RIGHT AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED IN MY CAR I HAD THIS ERROR ON MY COMPUTER: "ENGINE OIL PRESSURE TOO LOW. POSSIBLE ENGINE DAMAGES, SWITCH OFF ENGINE. CONTINUED DRIVING IS NOT POSSIBLE. PLEASE CONTACT THE NEAREST BME CENTER" RIGHT AFTER THE RECALL WAS MADE MY ENGINE START LOOSING POWER. I CALLED AND COMPLAIN BMW OF NA AND THEY DENIED MY COMPLAINS. REDUCED ENGINE POWER WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT WARNING CAME. THE NEXT INCIDENT WAS ON 03/28/2011 MILEAGE AT 9008, THE SAME HAPPENED AT SPEED OF 65 WITH SUDDEN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER.

HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WENT OUT 2ND TIME IN 8 MONTHS. BRAND NEW CAR WAS LEASED IN MARCH 2010. FIRST HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WENT BAD AND WAS REPLACED IN JULY. THIS CAUSES A SAFETY HAZARD WHILE DRIVING. CAR SHUTS OFF AND ALL ELECTRONICS GO DEAD INCLUDING BREAK SYSTEM. MY 2010 BMW 335XI (3,500 MILES) SUDDENLY STALLED ON WA HIGHWAY 520, ON THE LAKE WASHINGTON BRIDGE IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC DUE TO HPFP FAILURE. THERE WAS A MALFUNCTION WARNING ON THE NAV DISPLAY, STATING THAT ONLY LIMITED ENGINE POWER WAS AVAILABLE, WHEN TWO SECONDS LATER THE ENGINE STALLED, LOSING POWER STEERING AND BRAKES AS WELL. I WAS GOING APPROX. 25 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ENTERING THE BRIDGE THAT HAS NO SHOULDER. I WAS BLOCKING ONE OF TWO EASTBOUND LANES AND POSED A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND GO FOR APPROX. 50 YARDS BEFORE THE ENGINE STALLED AGAIN. DOING SO 4-5 TIMES I REACHED THE MIDSPAN TURNOUT AND STOPPED IN AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SPOT. I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WHEN A DOT TRUCK APPROACHED AND PUSHED ME OFF THE REMAINDER OF THE BRIDGE. I WAS IN AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE POSITION FOR APPROX. 30 MINUTES! THE CAR WAS TOWED AND THE PROBLEM WAS A HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURE, THE PUMP WAS REPLACED. WHEN I CALLED BMW TO COMPLAIN, THE REP SAID SHE HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. I JUST READ AN ARTICLE AND THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WIDESPREAD. A BRAND NEW CAR STALLING ON THE FREEWAY WITHOUT WARNING IS EXTREMELY UNNERVING AND DANGEROUS. *TR

FUEL PUMP FAILED A MONTH AFTER THE CAR WAS LEASED. WHEN I WENT TO START THE CAR, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START UP. I TOOK IT TO BMW AND THEY STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. THIS FUEL PUMP FAILURE COULD HAVE STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I STARTED INVESTIGATING AND NOTICED HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS. I HAD NO WARNINGS PRIOR TO THE FOLLOWING DESCRIPTIONS. MY CAR SHUT OFF AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT THE CAR WAS IN "LIMP" MODE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED. I PARKED MY CAR AND LEFT FOR SEVERAL HOURS. I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART AFTER SEVERAL HOURS AND THE CAR TOOK A LONG TIME TO START, UPON STARTING THE CARE IDLED VERY HIGH AND THE THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE AND SHUT OFF SHORTLY AFTER. UPON BEING TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, THERE OUTCOME IS MY HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *CN
