Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Acura TSX, 2011-2014 TSX Sport Wagon, 2010-2013 ZDX, 2008-2012 Honda Accord, 2010-2011 Accord Crosstour, 2006-2011 Civic and Civic Hybrid, 2008-2010 Civic GX NGV, 2012-2015 Crosstour, 2007-2011 CR-V, 2009-2013 Fit, 2014 Fit EV, 2010-2014 Insight, and 2009-2015 Pilot vehicles. The vehicles are equipped with passenger frontal air bag inflators assembled as a recall remedy part or replacement service part, that may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began August 12, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are F5F and Q5E.

The contact owns a 2010 Acura TSX. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the power steering would suddenly fail causing the contact to use an excessive force to steer the vehicle. The power steering failure, brake system, and a yellow (unsure of its meaning) warning lights had been illuminated. At times when the failure occurred, the contact would have to pull over and turn off the vehicle, after waiting a while and turning the vehicle back on the warning would no longer be illuminated and the power steering would activate. The failure occurred intermittently/ The contact had a diagnostic device and pulled codes 71/01 and 71/02 referring to a steering failure. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer had referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a safety complaint. The failure mileage was unknown.

I HAVE ASKED TO HAVE THIS ISSUE REPAIRED FROM ACURA AND THEY HAVE DECLINED THE REPAIR, STATING THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH THEIR SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THE ACTUATORS ARE AN ISSUE.

ON DECEMBER 11 , 2017, I TURNED MY CAR ON START AND IT STARTED SHOWING ME THREE WARNING LIGHTS. I TURNED IT OFF AND TURNED IT ON AGAIN AND THE LIGHTS DISAPPEAR. BRAKES FAILED ON THREE CONSECUTIVE DAYS DURING COLD SPELL (TEENS WITH WIND CHILL -10 TO 10F) THE FIRST TIME I HAD PULLED OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT THE SUPERMARKET AND WAS HEADING TOWARDS THE EXIT. I NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS NOT SLOWING AS I APPROACHED THE STREET ALTHOUGH I WAS EXERTING CONSIDERABLE FORCE ON THE BRAKE. I MANAGED TO STOP THE CAR AND PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET. I CHECKED FOR ANY PHYSICAL OBSTRUCTIONS AND DID NOT FIND ANY. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT TRAVEL. AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE BRAKES RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION AND I WAS ABLE TO CAREFULLY DRIVE HOME. THE NEXT MORNING, I PUMPED THE BRAKES WITH THE CAR OFF UNTIL THE PEDAL WOULD NOT MOVE. I THEN TURNED ON THE IGNITION AND NOTICED THE BRAKE WOULD NOT GO DOWN AGAIN. I HAD TO WAIT A FEW MINUTES UNTIL IT FUNCTIONED AGAIN. THIRD INSTANCE, I STARTED THE CAR AND PUMPED THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES. THE FIRST COUPLE TIMES IT WORKED BUT THEN IT FROZE AGAIN. AFTER SOME MORE TIME, THE BRAKES ENGAGED AND I TOOK THE CAR TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP. 2010 ACURA TSX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND VSA LIGHT ISSUES. *SMD THE DEALER FOUND THE WHEEL SENSOR ON THE LEFT FRONT WAS BAD, DUE TO INTERNAL FAILURE THE DEALER REPLACED THE SENSOR. THEY ALSO FOUND THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING WAS LEAKING GREASE AND CAUSED THE WHEEL SENSOR TO GO BAD. THEY REPLACED THE LEFT WHEEL BEARING. THE HIGH BUTTON ON THE PASSENGER SEAT WARMER LIGHT WAS INOPERABLE. ALSO, THE THIRD CLUTCH PRESSURE SWITCH FAILED. THE DASHBOARD WAS BUBBLING IN THE CENTER AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS COMPLETELY DISCOLORED. THE POWER WINDOWS WERE MOVING SLOWLY UP AND DOWN. THE CONSUMER CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES SQUEAKING, DESPITE THE REAR BRAKES BEING REPLACED, THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN, THE SEAT BELT COVER BROKE. ALSO, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. *JB
BOTH REAR MAIN BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE FAILED. FUSE REPLACED AND LIGHTBULBS STILL DOES NOT WORK. INTERNET SEEMS TO POINT TO WIRING UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE, BEFORE THE FUSEBOX. SAFETY ISSUE. THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT DOES WORK.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE CONSUMED APPROXIMATELY ONE HALF QUART OF OIL EVERY THOUSAND MILES. THERE WAS A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
IN SLIPPERY CONDITIONS, SUCH AS RAIN, IF YOU NEED TO ACCELERATE, THE TRACTION CONTROL CUTS POWER PRACTICALLY COMPLETELY, SO IF YOU ARE AT A STOP SIGN, AND TRY TO CROSS A BUSY INTERSECTION, IF YOU CAN GET THE TRACTION CONTROL TO NOT ENGAGE YOU CAN MOVE PRETTY QUICKLY ACROSS THE INTERSECTION, IF IT'S ENGAGE, AND IT ACTIVATES IT'S AS THOUGH YOU TOOK YOUR FOOT COMPLETELY OFF THE ACCELERATOR, I'VE HAD A LOANER CAR OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL AS MINE, BUT IT WAS AN AUTOMATIC, THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION DOESN'T SEEM TO WORK THE SAME WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL AS THE AUTOMATIC DOES. THE AUTOMATIC YOU CAN FEEL THE CAR PRACTICALLY CLAW AT THE ROAD TO MOVE FASTER, WHILE THE MANUAL, POWER IS JUST COMPLETELY CUT, IT'S QUITE DANGEROUS.
THIS TSX HAS HAD THREE DIFFERENT DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS GO OUT. PASSENGER DOOR AT 30K MIKES, DRIVER DOOR AT 45K MILES AND REAR PASSENGER DOOR AT 75K MILES. WHILE THE FIRST TWO WERE UNDER WARRANTY THE LAST ONE ISN'T AND COSTS $460 FOR THE ACURA DEALER TO FIX THE PROBLEM. SEEMS THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM AS THE CAR IS IN OTHERWISE PERFECT CONDITION. MULTIPLE OWNERS ON ACURA MESSAGE BOARDS COMPLAIN OF THE SAME PROBLEM.
