The issue involves the main propane hose that runs from the propane tank to the manifold on my 2021 Winnebago Navion. The Winnebago parts graphic (attached) shows the hose crossing under the RV ahead of the rear tire. On mine, the hose goes over the rear driver's tire wheel well and crossed behind the tire to the manifold. Upon arriving home and smelling propane, I discovered the hose had been sev
... ered in two in the wheel well. It appears the hose may have had sufficient slack that the tire caught it and sliced it in half. I am attaching photos and the Winnebago graphic (the arrow and wheel were added by me). It is amazing that there was no fire. It could easily have resulted in serious injury or death. The hose has been replaced and routed properly to avoid the tire area by Rick's RV (part of El Cajon Ford, El Cajon, CA), I have retained the original hose. I do not know if mine was an anomaly or if all 2021 Navions and Views have the same safety issue. I have notified Winnebago of the issue.Read more

The contact owns a 2022 Winnebago Solis constructed on a 2021 Ram Promaster 3500 Chassis. The contact stated that the air condition unit failed to operate as needed due to a defective generator. The vehicle was initially taken to a dealer where a generator sensor was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that upon taking her vehicle back to the dealer, she was informed that
... the generator did not meet the 12-inch specification clearance between the ground and generator; she was informed that the generator only cleared the ground by eight inches. Due to the defect, water from both the front and rear tires would enter the generator during inclement weather; she was also informed that the design defect could potentially lead to a fire. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and denied responsibility for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. The consumer stated the generator was replaced and the mechanics were the ones who made the consumer aware of the clearance problems.Read more

The Advanced Trak feature on the Ford F 53 chassis turns off when operating on rough roads which effects the anti lock braking function, Stability control, the cruise control and other safety features. After parking the vehicle, the system will reset itself but will turn off again. Ford has no fix for this problem which is widely documented on the internet.

Driving on interstate with cruise control suddenly for no reason the vehicle self brakes hard. Luckily no other vehicles close by. Able to get vehicle to shoulder (lucky shoulder and driving in right lane). We have collision assist and ABS with cruise adaptive. It’s obvious that it malfunctioned and we are very lucky. Called WInnebago and they said this is Ford Chassis- called Ford and they said
... they would get back to me! We were afraid to travel On but did and it hasn’t malfunctioned again. We also read that we could turn the system off, which we now did. Ford rep should have immediately told us to turn it off for our safety. Instead we haven’t heard a word back from Ford.Read more

Winnebago propane road tank serial #1661055. This tank is mounted on the frame with 2 brackets which are welded to the tank and bolted to the frame. This is the second time for this failure. The tank forms a crack at the end of the bracket where the bracket has a sharp 90 degree corner. The bracket is not welded at this point and is welded 3/4 of an inch from where the leak forms. The second leak
... happened with a full tank of propane (37.6 gallons) and was at the bottom of the tank and therefore in liquid not gaseous propane. The leak was loud enough to be audible and as such scared the hell out of us. We had just driven the stretch of highway 93 between Phoenix and Henderson Nevada which is in very poor condition and is extremely rough in different sections. I believe the rough road is what contributed to this crack braking though the thin tank wall and the tank bounces up and down and flexes with pressure concentrating at the sharp 90 degree corner at the top and bottom of the bracket. We drained the tank so that we may continue to our destination. There is already a safety recall of Winnebago’s up to September 2003 manufacture date for this same problem. This safety recall should be expanded to include all Winnebago’s with the same mounting system. I understand that there is a change up bracket system that will support the weight of the tank better to prevent these tank cracks at the ends of the brackets. It was only due to being very lucky that we did not end up in a fatal fire or explosion. This defect needs to be addressed no matter how old the vehicle is as it is a deadly hazard.Read more

My safety complaint is for a 2022 Winnebago Travato RV which has a Ram Pro Master Chassis with solar panels on roof. It has two solar panels that are 12" X 18" and 36" X 36" mounted about 4 to 6 inches horizontal above the roof line. The problem is that at higher speeds the flow of wind makes a very strong Turbulence and causes the RV to shutter and vibrate and very hard to control. If a gust of w
... ind comes and you are not ready you could loose control of the RV and crash. Winnebago is aware of this issue since 2020 and has not done any thing about it. All they tell me that this doesn't happen with all Travato's which I find hard to understand since that are all made the same. There is so many complaints out on the web about this issue. My Travato was at the dealer for more then a month and they agreed that this is a issue but they can't doing any work until Winnebago comes up with a fix to the issue. I don't know why Winnebago engineering staff can't see that you need to put a wind deflector in front and behind the solar panels to stop the positive and negative air pressure to stop all this vibration. I have had my RV for 3 months and it has been at the dealer for most of the time. I won't drive it on the open highway because it is unsafe at higher speeds and I don't want kill my family or someone else's family.Read more

This is a Sprinter van finished by Winnebago into the 2022 Revel 44E SN 15219109. We have 1,500 miles on van and took delivery three weeks ago. Friday 9/17/21 While driving the van at highway speed in Massachusetts on I495, we detected an acrid burning smell and the van quickly filled with smoke. We were able to pull over, shut down the vehicle and open the doors. We found in the rear compartment
... where the lithium battery system is located a damaged/melted connection. It appears the bolt/nut connecting the wire from the alternator charging system wasn't tightened creating heat which burned away the rubber boot covering the terminal. In looking at other connections in this area, all other nuts are marked with a paint pen to show they were verified for tightness. The connection that was damaged and melted away it's rubber cover was not marked. There were no warnings/alarms to state an issue was going to/was occurring. The vehicle is <3 weeks old from pickup at factory delivery center We feel this could've resulted in a less experienced driver potentially going into panic mode and potentially causing an accident. In addition, this fire/arching occurred next to (2) lithium batteries which could've created a fire/explosion. I searched for this issue and found other owners on the FaceBook Revel owners forum have had similar issues with their units - therefore I'm reporting this to prevent other owners/potential owners from having this defect.Read more

While driving on the Interstate at 70 mph, there was without any warning sudden bang simultaneous with the vehicle leaching severely to the right and at the same time trying to spin clockwise. As I tried to gain control it felt like the vehicle was going to roll side to side. We were pulling a Jeep Wrangler 4 wheels down behind and it was all I could do to avoid the adjacent traffic. I finally
... was able to crash the vehicle on the right shoulder of the road. We discovered both passenger rear tires had blown out at the same time. There had been no warning from the Tire Pressure Monitoring system. We recently completed the Valve Stem Extension Recall and had what were discovered as damaged rims replaced at that time. The Tire Pressure Monitoring system was intermittently not registering but Freightliner and Winnebago were not in agreement as to whom was responsible for warranty repair. We are the third Winnebago Horizon from a Facebook Group of fifteen or so Horizon units so far that have had crashes from this AFTER the valve extension recall has been completed. THIS IS A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM THAT IS NOT BEING CORRECTED WITH THE RECALL! I am an Engineer and a retired ER Physician - I can tell you that someone is going to get killed from this. It is sudden and catastrophic. My wife and I are lucky to be alive and I am so thankful that I didn’t kill other people. Very little shakes me after 29 years of Emergency Medicine. I am shook and afraid to drive this unit.Read more

What if our RV rolled and we caused a pile up on the interstate? What if we got hurt or caused others to get hurt, or worse? Our trust has been broken. The insurance company towed the RV to the nearest Freightliner Dealer and they have been very helpful in assessing the issue as well as fixing the damages to get our coach back in working order. The component which failed was the tire stem as described in their recall. We were not notified of this recall by mail or email – we only heard of it when we were in getting an oil change at the Freightliner in Dallas. They then took care of rectifying the recall issue, at least that is what they told us. Obviously, whatever was done as a fix to the recall issue was not successful and/or a proper fix. Safety of my family and others on the road at the moment of the explosion was at risk. The Freightliner Dealer said that was the issue and they are going to fix it. Upon the advice of fellow Rialta owners, I did an inspection of the rear axle. Upon inspection, I found a crack in the axle casting. This will lead to a catastrophic failure and severe injury or death. The rear axle was manufactured with a weak point and this is where the crack is forming. If the axle breaks at highway speeds, it put everyone on the road in danger. I have reported to fellow Rialta
... owners who have experience in this and they confirmed it was a crack and will fail. I sent pictures to a local RV shop who does work on my Rialta and they confirmed a welded gusset will need to be installed to reinforce the weak axle. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request, however, to avoid potential deaths, I will have the gussets installed by a local shop to reinforce the axle. This has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representative. There were no warnings or symptoms, just a proactive inspection on my part.Read more

THE VEHICLE IS A WINNEBAGO SOLIS (CLASS B RV) THAT'S BUILT ON THE DODGE RAM CHASSIS. WE ARE EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE SEAT BELTS, AS ARE SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS I KNOW WHO OWN THE SAME MODEL RV. WINNEBAGO HAS ADDED TWO BENCH SEATS WITH 3-POINT SEAT BELTS. THE SEATS ARE MADE BY A COMPANY CALLED FREEDMAN. IN OUR CASE, WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ON A SLOPE, THE SEAT BELTS FOR THE FREEDMAN BENCH SEAT BE
... COME STUCK AND CANNOT BE PULLED OUT, SO THE PASSENGER CANNOT BUCKLE IN. WE HAD THE ENTIRE SEAT BELT WITH BUCKLE/HOUSING REPLACED BY A BODY SHOP WITH WINNEBAGO'S APPROVAL; HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE BODY SHOP HAD TAKEN APART THE OLD SEAT BELT AND NOTED THAT THERE IS A LEVELING MECHANISM THAT'S VERY SENSITIVE. WHEN IT'S NOT LEVEL, THE SEAT BELT LOCKS UP. THIS CAUSES PROBLEMS WHEN THE VAN IS PARKED ON A SLOPE -- THE MECHANISM LOCKS UP, SO THE PASSENGER SITTING IN THE BACK SEATS (IN OUR CASE MY CHILD) CANNOT PULL THE SEAT BELTS OUT TO BUCKLE HIMSELF. ON 2/20/21 I PURCHASED A 2021 WINNEBAGO TRAVATO FROM MIKE THOMPSON RV IN SANTA FE SPRINGS AS A GIFT TO MYSELF BEFORE GOING COMPLETELY BLIND FROM RETINITIS PIGMENTOSA (FINAL ROAD TRIPS). THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE DELIVERED TO MY PROPERTY IN IDYLLWILD, CA ON 2/24/21. THE EVENING OF 2/23/21 I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM [XXX] THE FINANCE MGR THAT THE GENERATOR IS BROKEN. I SAID THAT'S OUTRAGEOUS' IT'S BRA
... ND NEW. THEY DELIVERED THE RV WITHOUT THE GENERATOR ON 2/24/21 AND THEIR DRIVER HAD AN ACCIDENT WITH THE RV ON ROUTE TO MY HOME ' THE DRIVER CONTACTED ME ON MY CELL PHONE DISGRUNTLED THAT HE WAS CAUGHT IN TRAFFIC. I SAID, 'YES IN CALIFORNIA DURING RUSH HOUR THERE IS OFTEN TRAFFIC.' HE HUNG UP ON ME. I ARRANGED FOR MY MAINTENANCE MAN TO MEET THE DRIVER AT THE LOCAL GAS STATION SO THE DRIVER COULD FOLLOW HIM TO MY PROPERTY. THE DRIVER ARRIVED AROUND 7:30PM. HE GOT OUT OF THE RV AND WHIPPED THE KEYS AT ME, WHICH I COULDN'T SEE BECAUSE NIGHT BLINDNESS IS A SYMPTOM OF R.P. MY MAINTENANCE MAN WITNESSED IT ALL. THE DRIVER RAN OFF DOWN THE STREET. I DIDN'T SIGN HIS PAPERWORK AFTER HE THREW THE KEYS AT ME. MY MAINTENANCE MAN CHECKED THE RV AND FOUND BODY DAMAGE AND THE INTERIOR COUCH MATTRESSES, ETC TIPPED OVER ON THE FLOOR. I TEXTED THE FINANCE MGR, [XXX], STATING WHAT HAPPENED (VEHICLE DAMAGE AND ASSAULT), AND SHE TEXTED BACK '...HE JUST THREW THE KEYS AT YOU...THAT'S NOT ASSAULT.' I ASKED WHO THE OWNER IS TO [XXX] AND CALLING THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME THE INFORMATION UNTIL I FINALLY PERFORMED MY OWN DUE DILIGENCE. THIS PURCHASE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A MEANINGFUL AND JOYFUL GIFT/EXPERIENCE TO MYSELF BEFORE DEALING WITH SOME VERY DARK DAYS (LITERALLY) ' I WATCHED MY FATHER GO BLIND FROM R.P., SO I KNOW WHAT I'M FACING. I'M OUTRAGED AND HEARTBROKEN TO BE DEALING WITH SUCH HEINOUS AND UNTRUSTWORTHY BEHAVIOR AND ISSUES. PLEASE HELP ME. THANK YOU, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *CC *TRRead more
