Became aware of open recalls circa 09.2025, and requested the parts be ordered at Ford Auto Nation (FAN) Panama City, FL. Was told by John, dealership would call when parts became available. Parts have not either been available and/or there have been no calls. Calling the dealer is ludicrous as all calls are answered by an incompetent call center. Dropped by the dealership today 04/25/2026, an
... d Taylor could not book a service appointment, did not know if parts to fix recalls were available for my vehicle, and said I would need to speak with John whom was off today. It appears that Ford/FAN-PC is not interested in safety or repairing my vehicle.Read more

URGENT SAFETY DEFECT - Repeated front hub overheating/fire risk (2025 Western Star 47x) I am submitting a formal safety complaint regarding my 2025 Western Star 47x The front wheel hubs have over heated to the point of failure on 6 separate occasions, resulting in a fire on two of those occasions. The issues have been documented with Freightliner and accompanied by photo/video evidence. Each inc
... ident required the vehicle to be towed to an authorized dealership, and repairs were performed under warranty. Despite these repeated repairs, the issue has not yet been resolved. The hubs are currently overheating again, indicating a persistent and unresolved defect. This is no longer a routine maintenance or warranty issue. This is an ongoing safety defect that presents a serious fire hazard and risk of injury, property damage, or loss of life. Key Concerns - - Six separate over heating and/or fire incidents involving the front hubs - Multiple warranty repairs with no permanent resolution - Recurrence of the same failure condition - Within days or weeks of warranty repair, the vehicles becomes unsafe to operate under normal working conditions due to over heating hubs, which break down the lubricating gear oil, furthering the problem, causing more heat with thinner oil, which eventually leaks onto the brakes, causing a fire. During the times where I was fortunate enough to catch it before a fire started, the fluid was so hot that it melted the plastic hub cap to the point of blowing up like a balloon before eventually rupturing. These instances were video documentedRead more

Over time, the valvetrain in my engine became gradually louder. Because there were no check engine lights or fault codes, I initially assumed this was a normal characteristic of the engine. That changed on January 2, 2026, when I began to hear a pronounced knocking/loud tapping noise accompanied by a cylinder 8 misfire. At that point, I stopped driving the vehicle and had it towed to a repair sho
... p. Based on the symptoms, we initially believed the issue would be limited to a camshaft and lifter replacement. However, after draining the oil and cutting open the oil filter, a significant amount of metal debris was discovered. Further inspection revealed that one camshaft lobe had been worn down nearly smooth and the corresponding lifter had failed. When the camshaft was removed for full evaluation, all other lobes showed normal, even wear. Only the lobe associated with the failed lifter exhibited catastrophic damage beyond repair. As a result of the metal contamination throughout the engine, a full engine replacement was required rather than a repair of individual components. The basis of my complaint is that this failure appears to be a well-documented and common issue with the 6.4L HEMI engine equipped with MDS. I have since reviewed numerous reports and forum discussions describing nearly identical failures—often beginning with increased valvetrain noise, followed by a single-cylinder misfire and extensive internal damage. This was not the result of neglect or abuse, but rather a known failure mode that ultimately led to the complete loss of the engine.Read more

Western Star utilizes relay in master power distribution, they call PNDB. When this device is faulty it interrupts the power to engine causing truck engine to shut down. This shut down has happened with the truck fully loaded (71,000 LBS) traveling at 60 mph a couple of times. With no engine power you lose power steering. This is a very dangerous condition that I have discovered is more common th

I had my 2014 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel serviced for a recall regarding the crankshaft position sensor, recall 66A/NHSTA 23V-411 in December of 2023. The recall calls for an update to be downloaded to the crankshaft position sensor to allow it to continue functioning when the adhesive fails on the magnetic strip on the tone wheel. In January of 2025 I was driving down the road when the Service Electronic
... Throttle Control System light came on. I immediately lost power, my truck wouldn't go above 3K RPMs, and has a hard time starting. I took it to the dealership on January 21, 2025 and they diagnosed it as needing the crankshaft position sensor replaced. The dealership quoted me $1600 to replace. I called Ram to see if they would cover the bill since that part is recalled. They said that since the 8 year warranty is expired, and the recall had already been served, they would not honor the recall. My concern is that adhesive on the magnetic strip failed, causing the crankshaft position to be damaged. This occurred while driving at low speeds. Had this happened while driving down the interstate, the sudden loss of power could have been catastrophic. My truck still will not go above 3K RPMs, has very little power, and has trouble starting. Even though this part is recalled, neither the dealership nor the manufacturer will cover the costs to replace the part.Read more

The main windshield bracket holding the front camera (responsible for Driver's Assistant including front collision warning, pedestrian warning, lane departure warning, etc.) has the tendency to break on its own. The bracket is made of thin plastic and can melt under direct sunlight and/or usage of vehicle as the camera gets hot as well. Any reasonable exposure or usage will eventually cause the br
... acket to melt/deform and fail, causing the camera to fall from its original position. The misalignment of camera will cause a cascade of error codes and completely fail to work, rendering the entire safety systems to be useless. The bracket itself is not sold separately and requires the manufacturer to install a completely new windshield which is the only method of fixing this issue. Manufacturer and/or dealerships refuse to warranty if preventative methods are used (such as windshield tint) even though the camera or mounts remain untouched.Read more

- There is a clicking noise coming from the steering column area after the vehicle has been driven on the highway for approximately 15 minutes and the vehicle engine has been warmed up. The noise can be heard at low speeds, such as pulling up into a driveway, or turning the steering wheel while parked. - The vehicle is brand new with 2900 miles as of today and the clicking noise coming from the st
... eering column can pose an unknown danger to those in the car and around the car. - The vehicle was brought in to the dealership for service inspection pertaining to the clicking noise and the issue was able to be duplicated and recorded. However, the issue is unresolved and the case is still open. - The dealership service department had the vehicle manufacturer engineer on the phone to aid in the troubleshooting. The troubleshooting recommendation by the engineer was to check if there is a similar clicking noise from another vehicle that is the same year, model, and trim level prior to further investigating; this has not started due to dealership inventory unavailability of the same exact year, model, and trim level. Until the dealership receives the same year, model, and trim level to compare with, the case will remain open. - The issue was first noticed when the vehicle had approximately 2000 miles.Read more
