WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH (THE LEGAL LIMIT) AT APPROXIMATELY 6:55 AM ON 2 JULY 2018, I WAS TWO OR MORE CAR LENGTHS BEHIND THE CAR AHEAD OF ME WHEN THE SUN ROOF CATASTROPHICALLY SHATTERED. NO ROAD DEBRIS WAS OBSERVED AND THE ROAD WAS DRY AND NOT IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE. WITH THE SUDDEN EXPLODING SOUND, I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON BUT WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR. IN MY REARVIEW MIRROR, I SAW THE CAR DIRECTLY BEHIND BRAKING HARD AND THE CARS IN THE NEXT LANE SLOWING DOWN TO AVOID THE DEBRIS I LATER REALIZED WAS THE EJECTED GLASS FROM MY SUN ROOF. THE NOISE CONTINUED AND THEN THE GLASS BEGAN FALLING INTO THE FRONT AREA OF THE CAR THROUGH THE VENTS IN THE SUN SHADE AND I FINALLY REALIZED THE SUN ROOF GLASS HAD SHATTERED. THE CAR IS MAINTAINED IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF CHIPPING, CRACKS OR OTHER DAMAGE TO THE SUN ROOF PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY. NUMEROUS OF PROBLEMS INVOLVING OTHERS. NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ON HIGHWAY DID NOT WANT TO GO DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. COULD OF BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC WHEN THEY OBVIOUSLY KNOW THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS A PROBLEM

I BOUGH THE CAR IN APRIL 2018 AND IN JUNE 2018 WITH THE CAR HAVING 1200 MILES ON BOARD, WHILE I WAS ON A TRIP 85 MILES AWAY FROM HOME, I'VE EXPERIENCED AN ENGINE FAILURE. AFTER A STOP ON THE TRIP, I PROCEEDED TO START THE CAR AND AFTER A FEW SECONDS OF RUNNING IT, A TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COULD BE HEARD. AS SOON AS I STARTED TO DRIVE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. AFTER CALLING THE VOLVO DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE, I WAS ADVISED THAT IT WOULD BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR 60 MILES TO THE NEAREST AVAILABLE DEALER. I CONTACTED VOLVO ON CALL BUT BECAUSE THE CLOSEST DEALER WAS ALREADY CLOSED AND A LOANER CAR WAS NOT AVAILABLE, THE CAR WAS TOWNED THE NEXT DAY. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE SENSOR TO THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS BLESSED THAT THE CAR DIDN'T STOP WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY OR ANY OTHER ROAD WITH OTHER CARS OR PEOPLE AROUND SINCE THE CONSEQUENCES COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY.Read more

AFTER THIS A WARNING LIGHT STATING "BRAKE FAILURE; PULL OVER SAFELY" ILLUMINATED. CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY IN FAST-MOVING TRAFFIC. GOT CAR TO A PARKING LOT AND WAITED ABOUT 30 MINUTES
... . CAR STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME, ALTHOUGH BEING ABOUT 50 MILES AWAY. CAR WENT IN TO LIMP MORE AGAIN DURING DRIVE AND LOST ALL DASH INDICATORS, INCLUDING TURN SIGNALS, SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER. LIGHT FOR "CHECK ENGINE" WAS ILLUMINATED. AFTER MECHANIC RESET CODES, HE STATED THAT IT MIGHT BE THE ECM OR TCM. I SENT OFF THE ECM FOR DIAGNOSIS AND IT CAME BACK WITHOUT ANY ERRORS. I THEN SENT OFF THE TCM AND LEARNED THAT IT NEEDED REPAIR. AFTER RECEIVING THE REPAIRED TCM UNIT, WE RE-INSTALLED AND CAR DROVE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. I TOOK THE CAR FOR A 6-HOUR ROUND TRIP DRIVE THIS PAST WEEKEND AND HAD ONE INCIDENT OF THE JERKING, BUT WITHOUT ANY OTHER ISSUES. AFTER LETTING THE CAR SIT IN THE DRIVE FOR AROUND 20 MINUTES, I TRIED STARTING IT ONLY TO GET ANOTHER "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT AND INOPERABLE DASH INDICATORS (SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER, TURN SIGNALS, ETC.). TOOK THE CAR TO A VOLVO DEALERSHIP TODAY FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NO CONTACT OCCURRING WITH THEIR COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. THEY RECOMMENDED A REPLACEMENT OF THE CEM AS A FIRST STEP WITH NO GUARANTEE THAT THE PROBLEM RESIDES IN THE THAT MODULE. THAT PART INSTALLED IS OVER $1,100. THIS IS MY FIFTH VOLVO, AND UNDOUBTEDLY, THE WORST YET. I AM CONSIDERING JUNKING IT AND LEAVING VOLVO IN MY PROVERBIAL REAR VIEW.
